The Gem Spirits are finally here in Fortnite, but good luck finding one outside the dedicated windows. This weekend, the Power Hours take the form of Gem Hours: boosted spawn rates for Spirits, Mythic weapons galore, and a few bonuses that really change the way you play the match. Here's how to make the most of it without wasting any time.

Specifically, the first phase will take place in France on August 8th from 8pm to 10pm, and the second, from 3am to 5am. No miracle here, it'll be a bit tricky to catch that second session, except for night owls.

What changes during Gem Hours

The main boost is the spawn rate of Gem Spirits, which climbs significantly. In practice, it's the best time to hunt for rare variants like the Golden Llama or the Grim Gem, the ones that hang around normally but that you never run into often enough to complete your collection.

• All seasonal weapons drop directly at Mythic rarity.
• All Spirit variants appear more often, with an increased chance specifically for Gem Spirits.
• The Mythic Golden Fish can now come out of chests.

The free Self-Revive Device changes quite a bit about how you approach your first few minutes: you can play a bit more aggressively in the early game without fearing definitive elimination on your first fight. It's worth taking advantage of this to push zones where you know things will heat up.

How to optimize your run during the window

With only four hours of combined window over the whole weekend (assuming you're available and motivated for both sessions), time management is the real challenge. Don't wander randomly across the map hoping to stumble upon a Spirit by chance: we recommend using the dedicated Spirit Loot Path to maximize your chances of hitting the right spawn zones while the rate is boosted.

Prioritize chests from the very start of the match rather than rushing straight into fights. With Mythic weapons dropping everywhere and the Mythic Golden Fish able to come out of chests, every loot opening potentially becomes a major upgrade compared to a regular match.

Tip

If your goal is specifically Spirit collecting rather than winning, play it quiet: avoid high player traffic zones and focus on exploring known spots. A missed Gem Spirit because you got eliminated too early is a lost opportunity on an already short window.

The Fortnite season ends on August 19th, which leaves limited time to complete the Spirit collection before everything goes back to standard.
