Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3: July 2026 weapon tier list
In brief
July 2026 sees the Chaos Exploder Rifle and Chaos Reloader Shotgun crushing the competition in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. We break down the complete tier list of the 25+ weapons in the current loot pool, the mythics worth farming, and three sample loadouts to dominate based on your playstyle.
Six weeks after the launch of update 41.00 on June 2, 2026, Chapter 7 Season 3 "Runners" has completely reshuffled its loot pool. Dark Voyager reigns over the Fractured Coast, John Wick left his dog behind in the sewers of Battlewoods, and Sprites are back to buff your runs. But above all, two weapons crush everything: the Chaos Exploder Rifle and the Chaos Reloader Shotgun. We break down the full pool, rank every piece in an S+/S/A/B/C tier list, remind you where to farm the mythics, and give you three sample loadouts depending on your playstyle. Goal: stop improvising your fights in July 2026.
Runners: the Season 3 context in thirty seconds
The season opens on the aftermath of the Shattered live event. The Fractured Coast is a new island, roughly 25% smaller than the Chapter 6 map, with the Zero Point exposed at the center of a tropical POI. Dark Voyager has taken control of the former Sandy Strip, renamed Sinister Strip, turned into propaganda glorifying him. On these new ruins also stand Battlewoods, Lifty Lodge, Frosted Flats, Shaken Sanctuary, Cluster Coast, Sunken Shores, Heatwave Harbor, Calamari Canyon, and Chopped Shop. Only Wonkeeland and Latte Landing survive from the previous patch.
On the gameplay side, Sprites are back in force, the Seven Sliders offer insane mobility, and Epic has shuffled almost the entire loot pool: old weapons unvaulted, new additions, and a meta reshuffled after two major hotfixes in June. We're currently in a pool considered by the community to be one of the most varied of Chapter 7, but also one of the most unbalanced since the successive Chaos Exploder nerfs.

The new additions shaking up the pool
Five weapons were added alongside Runners, including one with a staggered launch. Quick rundown before diving into the ranking.
- Chaos Exploder Rifle: Dark Voyager's heavy assault rifle. It fires explosive cubes that detonate on contact with anything: players, walls, obstacles. Brutal damage and zero damage falloff. Fearsome passive: two rounds automatically reload into the magazine every 3 seconds as long as the weapon is equipped.
- Surgical Burst Rifle: three-round burst, low recoil, very little damage falloff. A true mid-range surgeon after the hotfixes.
- Extending Focus Shotgun: long-range shotgun whose barrel extends and spread tightens over a three-shot volley. Unique concept, a bit rough in execution at base rarity.
- Lancehead Pistol: John Wick's sidearm, 21-round magazine. Neat gimmick: when you reload near an enemy, your spent magazine is thrown at them, dealing bonus damage.
- Bank Shot Pistol: added after the mid-June patch, its bullets ricochet off surfaces. Fun for rebounds but unreliable in direct duels.
Alongside these new additions, Epic unvaulted a flood of classics: Warforged Assault Rifle, Striker Pump Shotgun, Maven Auto Shotgun, Ranger Pistol, Stinger SMG, Flex SMG, Hunting Rifle, Hop Rock Dualies, Business Turret, Lawless Stink Rifle, not forgetting the Mythic Goldfish and the Exotic Slapberry Fizz.

Values are approximate: Epic adjusts things via hotfix almost every week. Treat them as a general order of magnitude, not as an unchanging truth.
Assault rifles: Chaos Exploder crushes, Surgical Burst follows
The Chaos Exploder Rifle dominated the first two weeks to the point of forcing Epic to act. The June 8 patch lowered its close-range impact damage to 33 at Legendary (down from 37 at launch), reduced its magazine to 25 rounds (down from 32), and slowed the fire rate to about 3.4 shots per second. The headshot multiplier only applies to the impact, not to the 6-damage explosion from the shell. Even nerfed, it remains the benchmark: it deals damage at all ranges, breaks the structures of a player trying to build, and reloads itself behind your back.
The Surgical Burst Rifle plays the opposite card: surgical precision at mid-range. Its three-round bursts deal 23/24/25/26/28 depending on rarity (post-nerf), with a very generous x1.5 headshot multiplier. It's the weapon to keep as a secondary if you play patiently on rooftops or behind cover. The Warforged AR remains a decent ground-loot alternative when you have neither the Chaos nor the Surgical, but it's nothing special in the current meta.

Shotguns: the reign of the Chaos Reloader
The Chaos Reloader Shotgun has the highest DPS in the entire loot pool this season, around 184 at Legendary. Its close-range damage climbs to 149-155 depending on rarity, x1.2 headshot, and its passive completely changes the experience: the weapon reloads itself when holstered. Switch to your AR to finish off a run, and your shotgun is already full when you come back to close range. A game-changer.
The Striker Pump Shotgun remains the reference for potential one-shots. In its mythic version dropped from the Heatwave Harbor duck race, it can deal 234 close-range damage and up to 434 on a critical headshot. Slow fire rate, very tight spread, weak at mid-range: it's the classic pump you either love or hate depending on your aim. The Reacher Extending Shotgun, dropped by Skeletor, applies the Extending Focus principle to a mythic version with amplified damage and improved range — the ultimate combo if you survive the boss.
The standard version of the Extending Focus Shotgun is more disappointing: interesting against mid-range campers, but penalized in close-range duels because its first shot spreads wide. Treat it as a filler until something better comes along. Finally, the Maven Auto Shotgun remains the ugly duckling: sprayable, sure, but with a burst too weak to kill a competent player in one swap. Avoid it outside of panic loot situations.

SMGs and pistols: the Flex dominates mobile close combat
The Flex SMG is the best SMG of the season, and arguably one of the best Fortnite has seen in the past two years. 38 rounds, 12.5 fire rate, 18 close-range damage per bullet at Legendary, 225 DPS. Two firing modes: single for precision, burst for spray. A Swiss Army knife that fills every close-to-mid range niche.
The Stinger SMG is more classic: large magazine, lower per-bullet damage, fewer tactical options. It gets the job done but drops a tier compared to the Flex. On the pistol side, the Lancehead Pistol takes the podium thanks to its 21-round magazine and its offensive reload bonus — throw your spent magazine at a pushing opponent to add 20-30 free damage. The mythic 9mm Baba Yaga, obtained by saving John Wick's dog at Sinister Strip, is even better, but acquiring it is slow and often contested.
The Ranger Pistol remains the best classic loot pistol: accurate, decent damage, available everywhere. The Bank Shot Pistol is a fun gadget for trick shots but stays ineffective in competitive practice. The Hop Rock Dualies, meanwhile, aren't quite classic pistols: each shot briefly launches you into weightlessness, making it as much a weapon as an offensive mobility tool. 46 damage per bullet, 18 in the magazine, fire rate of 4. Surprisingly powerful when mastered.
Snipers and long range: Lawless Stink Rifle stands alone
The sniper pool is surprisingly thin this season. The Lawless Stink Rifle is a one-shot rifle with 105 close-range damage at Legendary and a huge x2.5 headshot multiplier — that's 262 damage to the head, a one-shot kill on a full HP+shield player. Fire rate of 0.8 shots/s, reload of 1.53s. This is THE competitive sniper of the season.
The Hunting Rifle remains a safe bet: classic bolt-action, very accurate, dropping far more often than the Stink Rifle. Ideal as a backup sniper when you can't find anything better. No Heavy Sniper in the pool as of July 2026, which deprives long-range players of their usual build-destroyer.

Mythics and exotics: rotation priorities
Three NPC bosses share a pool of randomized spawns concentrated around Calamari Canyon and Frosted Flats. A red skull icon appears on the minimap when you're within 200 meters. Here's their mythic loot.
| Boss | Mythic loot | Difficulty | July 2026 priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skeletor | Reacher Extending Shotgun + Chug Jug | High (heals shield in combat) | Priority — best mythic pump in the pool |
| Voidblade | Mythic Surgical Burst Rifle + Chug Jug | Medium (jumps and strikes on landing) | Useful if you play mid-range precision |
| Wolfe | Mythic Maven Auto Shotgun + Chug Jug | High (teleportation, very fast) | Low — even as a mythic the Maven stays C tier |
Outside of bosses, two quests unlock mythics:
- Duck race at Heatwave Harbor: win the race to drop the mythic Striker Pump Shotgun. Medium difficulty, contested since only one player can win it per match.
- Rescuing John Wick's dog at Sinister Strip: find the dog in the sewers beneath the Golden Reel Theatre in Battlewoods, then bring it back to the shrine at Sinister Strip to obtain the 9mm Baba Yaga. Long but achievable early in the match.
The Mythic Goldfish (one-shot melee weapon) and the Exotic Slapberry Fizz (heal + bonus mobility) also circulate in the pool, but with very low drop rates — not enough to build a strategy around.
Three loadouts by playstyle
Here are our concrete recommendations depending on your approach.
Aggro rush loadout
- Chaos Reloader Shotgun (auto-reload = unlimited swap spam)
- Flex SMG (mid-range spray while pushing)
- Chaos Exploder Rifle (breaks enemy builds at range)
- Seven Sliders + Chug Jug (mobility and healing)
- Free slot 5: mini shields or Shield Bubble for retreats
Precision camper loadout
- Mythic Striker Pump Shotgun (one-shot up close if pushed)
- Legendary Surgical Burst Rifle (mid-range taps)
- Lawless Stink Rifle (long-range headshots)
- Hunting Rifle (backup sniper while Stink is on cooldown)
- Big Bush Bomb to stay hidden
Mobile-hybrid loadout
- Chaos Reloader Shotgun (the best close range in the pool)
- Lancehead Pistol (huge magazine, offensive reload bonus)
- Hop Rock Dualies (vertical mobility + pistol burst)
- Surgical Burst Rifle (mid-range poke)
- Seven Sliders + Rift-To-Go for quick rotations
Three items common to every loadout: at least one reliable shotgun, at least one healing source, and active mobility. The Seven Sliders are considered by the community to be the best mobility item currently available — don't skip them on the ground.
What you should mentally vault
Some weapons are technically in the pool but should be left on the ground unless it's an absolute emergency: the Maven Auto Shotgun (too weak a burst), the Bank Shot Pistol (a gadget), the Common/Uncommon Warforged AR (don't attack anyone with this if you have any other choice). Conversely, if you come across a Chaos Exploder Rifle of Rare rarity or higher, grab it without hesitation even at the cost of a healing slot: the 132 DPS and the auto-reload passive are worth the sacrifice.
Conclusion: build around the Chaos Reloader
Six weeks after its launch, Season 3 Runners has found its balance around two central pieces: the Chaos Reloader Shotgun for non-stop close combat, and the Chaos Exploder Rifle to dominate long range and break builds. Build your inventory around these two weapons, round it out with a Flex SMG for mid-range and a healing source, and you'll be equipped to hold through the last 80 circles. The boss mythics speed up the curve but aren't essential: Skeletor is worth the detour, the other two remain optional. All that's left is to hope Epic doesn't nerf the Chaos Exploder again before season's end — which, historically, always happens to the best weapon in a pool. We'll update this guide with the next major patch.
