Fortnite Ch. 7 S3: Shattered Coast secret hiding spots

Chapter 7 Season 3 of Fortnite, subtitled Runners, has reshuffled the entire map. Since the 41.00 update rolled out on June 6, 2026, the old Golden Coast has given way to an island entirely reassembled by the Zero Point: the Shattered Coast. Nearly 84% of points of interest have been rebuilt, the total area has shrunk by roughly 25%, and Epic has sprinkled hiding spots, vaults, combination rooms, and rare chests all over the map that most lobbies still haven't discovered. This guide rounds up the best overlooked spots, POI by POI, so you can walk away from every match with a dream inventory.

A rebuilt island: the Shattered Coast at a glance

Of the thirteen named POIs on the new map, only Wonkeeland and Latte Landing kept their historical location. Every other one has been merged, retextured, or repositioned around three new biomes that split the island in roughly equal shares: tropical at the center around the Exposed Zero Point, primal to the northwest, and desert to the south. The island now hosts ten brand-new POIs: Lifty Lodge, Chopped Shop, Frosted Flats, Sinister Strip, Heatwave Harbor, Shaken Sanctuary, Sunken Shores, Cluster Coast, Calamari Canyon, and Golden Grove, not to mention The Battlewoods, remixed from the old Battlewood. This reshuffle completely changes the loot economy: classic rotations no longer work, and mastering the secret hiding spots becomes a real differentiator.

The eight official vaults mapped out

The Shattered Coast has eight permanent Vaults, evenly distributed across the biomes. Six of them open with a Rare Vault Key and each yields a rare chest, a few Slurp jugs, and a guaranteed Sprite Chest. The last two, the famous Epic Sprite Vaults, require an Epic Keycard and reward the effort with multiple Sprite Chests, rare chests loaded with high-rarity loot, common chests, and Slurp galore.

• Under the Mile High Retreat Supply Depot — just southeast of Lifty Lodge, in the snowy cliff.
• Southeast of The Battlewoods — less than 200 meters from the Golden Reel Theatre, hidden under a rocky outcrop.
• Southwest of Wonkeeland — accessible via a metal hatch hidden behind a park refreshment stand.
• Southeast of Shaken Sanctuary — in a ruined chapel tucked away at the edge of the desert biome.
• Gas station northeast of Sunken Shores — in the basement of a pump torn open by a primal root.
• Under the Shady Eyes building — east of Heatwave Harbor, entrance through a hatch hidden behind a vending machine.
• Epic Vault — Frosted Flats — under the FrosDeez ice cream shop, on the east side of the POI, ladder access in the cold room.
• Epic Vault — Sinister Strip — under The Shape, the black glass building at the center of the POI, guarded by the Dark Traveler.

Keys spawn randomly in ordinary chests and, more rarely, as ground loot. Epic Keycards have a noticeably higher drop rate in rare chests: so focus your chest openings on POIs that generate a lot of rare chests (Sinister Strip, Battlewoods, Frosted Flats) before attempting the vault.

Cluster Coast and the mystery of the rubber duck

The season's most spectacular hiding spot requires neither a key nor a keycard. At Cluster Coast, at the very south of the map, the Cluster headquarters houses a bunker that anyone can open provided they solve a mini-puzzle. First you need to track down a Suspicious Rubber Duck, recognizable by its sunglasses, which spawns each match in one of the following four spots:

• The golden fountain at the center of the mansion's main courtyard — the most frequent spawn.
• The indoor pool located in the mansion's left wing.
• The aquarium in the right wing (the duck sometimes floats on the surface of the tank).
• The outdoor decorative pond on the back terrace — backup spawn if the other three are empty.

Once you've grabbed it, carry the duck to the building right across from the mansion, next to the duck-shaped yacht. Inside, a huge Cluster poster hides a discreet door on the left. Go through it, walk up to the display case, place the duck inside: the entire floor descends like an elevator and takes you down to the vault. The loot is solid and consistent: two rare chests, two common chests, two ammo crates, over 2,000 gold bars, and occasionally a Legendary Shotgun. No other spot this season pays out as much gold in a single opening, which makes Cluster Coast a magnet for solo players looking to set up a strong mid-game.

The Battlewoods' secret room: 500 gold bars for a jackpot

Many players settle for the Golden Reel Theatre and the central restaurants of The Battlewoods. That's a mistake: the real jackpot is hidden in a self-storage facility at the southern edge of the POI, the one with the orange facade visible from the sewers. A basement door requires 500 gold bars to open. Pay up, walk in, and you'll safely grab a pair of rare chests, several common chests, and the full loot pool of a downtown area — not to mention the ammo and mini-shields that are essential late in the rotation.

Another tasty detail: the Battlewoods sewers sometimes host a scripted event where you can rescue John Wick's dog. It's not technically a hiding spot, but the interaction opens a previously locked door, with two bonus common chests inside, and triggers a quest line for the Runners Battle Pass.

Shaken Sanctuary and Jonesy's bunker

Tucked away south of the refurbished Team Foundation sanctuary, a hidden bunker holds a Jonesy in the midst of recovery. You get in through a metal hatch hidden under fake palm fronds, on the east side of the POI. Inside: three common chests, one rare chest, a medal bench for weekly quests, and above all a listening post that, once activated, temporarily reveals the location of a nearby standard vault (the one southeast of Shaken Sanctuary). It's therefore a perfect chain if you're already carrying a Rare Vault Key.

The sanctuary's central statue also hides a removable pedestal. Interacting with it after freeing Jonesy drops a few extra gold bars (around 150) and triggers a voice line that will resurface later in the season's storyline.

The 33 Sprite Chests: optimized farming route

The Sprite Chests are the backbone of Season 3: they build up your stock of captured sprites, essential for the new extraction mechanic (surviving a timer at an extraction point to make your sprites permanent between matches). Epic has scattered 33 known spawns across the whole map, with very uneven concentrations:

• Sinister Strip — 4 spawns (the island's record, the best farming POI for both solo and trios).
• Calamari Canyon, Heatwave Harbor, Shaken Sanctuary, Wonkeeland — 3 spawns each.
• Lifty Lodge and Frosted Flats — 2 spawns each, plus 1 spawn north of Frosted Flats.
• The Battlewoods, Chopped Shop, Golden Grove, Cluster Coast — 1 spawn each.
• Spawns scattered outside named POIs: south of Calamari Canyon (2 spawns), south of Wonkeeland, plus four landmarks detailed in the next section.

Since Sprite Chests are probabilistic, never count on a guaranteed spawn. That said, a quick Sinister Strip → Frosted Flats loop via the intermediate Epic Vault yields on average 6 to 8 Sprite Chests in under three minutes of gameplay — an unbeatable pace for setting up an extraction.

Forgotten landmarks: Collider Corridor, Wettest Bones, Crashout Estates

Between named POIs, the Shattered Coast scatters several landmarks that are often overlooked but each guarantee a dedicated Sprite Chest:

• Collider Corridor Alpha and Beta — two technological corridors created by the Zero Point, located north and south of the tropical center respectively. Each houses a Sprite Chest and two to three common chests.
• The Zero Point Landmark — the Exposed Zero Point at the heart of the map, ringed by wild sprites that can be captured without any extra tracking.
• Wettest Bones Research Facility — a submerged lab at the edge of Sunken Shores. A Sprite Chest, a rare chest depending on the match, and a secondary hatch leading to a flooded office full of gold bars.
• Crashout Estates — a demolished residential district west of Sinister Strip. Guaranteed Sprite Chest in a ruined villa, and often a Rare Vault Key in the garage chest.
• Mile High Retreat Supply Depot — the depot that hides the northwest vault entrance; two common chests and often an extra ammo crate.

These landmarks are your best allies for the mid-game: too small to attract a whole team, they hand out a rare chest from time to time and let you move from one POI to the next while collecting sprites and ammo without ever stopping for long.

Hidden quests and interactions worth watching

Beyond purely material hiding spots, several interactions trigger hidden quests or discreet bonuses that don't appear in the official quest tab:

• Rebuilding the Wishing Well at Sunken Shores by bringing three bricks from the nearby submerged villa: one throw per match, with a Gold reward and a Sprite Chest appearing at the bottom.
• Eliminating a sprite boss NPC at Wonkeeland when its central carousel activates: guaranteed drop of an Epic Keycard in certain instances.
• Activating the Calamari Canyon lighthouse lantern: temporarily reveals the location of a nearby vault, and spawns a bonus Sprite Chest at the top of the tower.
• Interacting with the Lifty Lodge trophy case, next to the ski lift: opens a discreet passage at the back of the main chalet with two guaranteed common chests.

These micro-quests sometimes change from one weekly update to the next; the 41.10 patch on June 25, 2026 added two more, and a new batch is expected with every minor update through the end of the season, scheduled for August 19, 2026.

Our recommended drop route for the end of the season

To combine hiding spots, vaults, and Sprite Chests in a single run, our favorite route for the end of Season 3 starts at Cluster Coast to grab the duck and the hidden vault (an ideal solo rotation, with little contest outside of top players). From there we move on to Heatwave Harbor and its Shady Eyes vault if you're holding a Rare Vault Key, then Crashout Estates for a quiet Sprite Chest, before finishing at Sinister Strip for the Epic Vault and the sprite-farming peak. If the storm pushes you north instead, swap the southern triangle for Lifty Lodge → Mile High Retreat → Frosted Flats, saving the FrosDeez Epic Vault for last.

The Shattered Coast clearly rewards players willing to take the time to explore rather than camping Wonkeeland at the start of the match. With all eight vaults mapped out, the two paid secret rooms, the duck puzzle, Jonesy's bunker, and the 33 Sprite Chests, there's plenty to keep your matches busy until the end-of-season patch — and probably beyond, if Epic keeps this formula for Chapter 8.
