In brief

Fisch is revolutionizing fishing with seven harpoon guns since August 2026, allowing players to directly capture Roaming Fish visible beneath the surface through a brand-new minigame called PULL. Between the Steady Harpoon Gun, accessible for 9,000 C$, and the Crystal Crasher at 2.4 million, each weapon offers distinct stats and passives, while successive patches have deeply reshuffled the game's balance by removing bonuses to classic fishing rods.

Fisch shifted to a new dimension on August 1, 2026 with version 1.95, dubbed Harpoon Guns. The fishing rod is no longer the only tool for catching fish: seven harpoon guns now let you aim directly at Roaming Fish, those fish visible beneath the surface since the July 18 update, then reel them in via a brand-new minigame, PULL.

Two hotfixes followed, and they matter just as much as the update itself. On August 2, patch 1.95.1 rebalanced the Power stat and massively extended the range of all seven harpoons. On August 3, patch 1.95.2 removed the roamer bonus from regular fishing rods, except in very specific cases. In other words: if you want to take advantage of visible fish, you now need a harpoon or a spear.

One last point, since half the code lists circulating are still getting it wrong: the code HarpoonGunsAreAwesome expired on August 2 at 4:00 PM UTC, and the Chaotic Crasher skin it granted can no longer be claimed.

How harpooning actually works

The loop is simple: equip a harpoon, get close to a roamer, fire, then chain into the PULL minigame. On PC, left click fires and holding right click activates aiming. Two visual cues help avoid wasting a shot: the fish model (or the entire school) highlights when it's in range, and the cursor dot turns red when the shot is guaranteed to land.

The PULL minigame follows the same logic as rod luring, with one difference: the button reads "PULL" and moves in a random direction. A successful click advances the progress bar, a missed click sends it backward, and letting a button expire also costs progress.

The six stats of a harpoon work as follows, according to the official wiki's definitions:

  • Power: progress gained in the minigame, based on the square root of the value.
  • Range: maximum firing distance, in studs.
  • Reload: reload time after a shot, the same whether it hits or misses — sloppy shots come at a real cost.
  • Velocity: lifespan of each PULL button, equal to 1 + (Velocity / 100) seconds.
  • Accuracy: size of the buttons.
  • Resilience: movement speed of the buttons.

A subtlety missing from the item descriptions: Velocity has no actual effect on the projectile (shots are resolved via an invisible ray), and the spread reduction that Accuracy is supposed to provide isn't functional. Both values only buy comfort in the minigame.

The real change on August 3: roamers no longer work with the rod

A roaming fish multiplies your chances of catching its species as long as it stays within 8 studs of your bobber (the radius extends infinitely downward). The multiplier depends on the fish's rarity:

RarityMultiplier
Trash×2
Common / Rare×10
Legendary / Mythical×5
Exotic×3
Secret×5
Divine Secret×1000

Since patch 1.95.2, this bonus no longer applies to rods, unless the fish is of Divine Secret or Relic rarity, or you have its favorite bait equipped. For everything else, you need the harpoon or the spear. In exchange, the cycle has sped up: roamer respawn time was cut in half on August 2, and a new roamer now appears as soon as another one is caught.

Two spawn rules matter if you're hunting a specific species: its probability of appearing as a roamer is tripled during its preferred weather and divided by ten outside its time slot. A natural day-night cycle change also resets all counters to zero at once, and a Divine Secret roamer now emits a sound audible up to 1,000 studs away — none can spawn during the first ten minutes of a server's life.

Finally, think about the Fish Radar, which highlights roamers when your graphics settings make the water opaque. Patch 1.95.1 also added roamers to Crystal Cove, Flying Roamers to Above The Clouds, Living Garden and Nectar Den, and made most quests compatible with spear or harpoon catches.

The Steady Harpoon Gun can be bought on the docks of Roslit Bay, near the forge. The only harpoon with no associated mutation, it boasts the best Accuracy in the game (50%): at 9,000 C$, there's no reason to skip it, if only to trigger the Trident Vault ritual. The Fungal Harpoon Gun can be picked up at the foot of a tree in Mushgrove Swamp (2653, 132, -839): mediocre stats, but a passive geared toward farming rather than combat.

The real benchmark sits at 175,000 C$, with the Relic Piercer and the Trident Striker: Power 25, a 2.5-second reload and a 50,000 kg weight limit, the highest in the game. These are the ones to prioritize, not the Frost Biter at 270,000 C$, which additionally requires 100% of the Boreal Pines bestiary. That leaves the two endgame pieces: the Great Dream Waker (1,500,000 C$, 75% of the Cursed Isle bestiary), found on a collapsed house at 1870, 136, 1284, which holds the longest range in the game; and the Crystal Crasher (2,400,000 C$, 100% of the Crystal Cove bestiary), on a ledge near the Underground Music Venue, at 1341, -580, 2369.

Passives, weapon by weapon

  • Steady Harpoon Gun: enlarges the PULL buttons. No associated mutation.
  • Fungal Harpoon Gun: 30% Fungal mutation (×4); every other catch grants +50% Luck for 60 seconds.
  • Relic Piercer: 35% Relic mutation (×6.5); each PULL button accepts 2 to 4 clicks, all of which count toward progress. The harpoon for fast clickers.
  • Trident Striker: 30% Atlantean mutation (×4); 12.5% chance a button validates itself automatically.
  • Frost Biter: 40% Frostbite mutation (×6); each button is briefly frozen when it appears, for a duration tied to Resilience. Bonus: +12 Hunt Focus on the Frostwyrm.
  • Great Dream Waker: 20% Cursed Touch mutation (×5); one to three "Curse" buttons appear, and five clicks on them summon a nearby roamer. Bonus: +30 Hunt Focus on the Leviathan.
  • Crystal Crasher: 25% Crystalline mutation, the most profitable of the bunch (×7.1); in exchange, each button requires two clicks until the charge bar is full, after which a single click grants double progress.

In short: the Crystal Crasher for market value, the Frost Biter for comfort, the Great Dream Waker for turning the minigame into a catch generator.

Opening the Trident Vault and crafting the Relic Piercer

The Trident Striker isn't bought off a shelf: you need to open a secret room in the Desolate Deep, accessible from the buoy north of Sunstone Island (-790, 125, -3100). Bring the Advanced Diving Gear, sold on site for 15,000 C$.

The ritual takes place in the altar room known as "???". With any harpoon equipped — the Steady is enough — shoot the five small markings on the walls; they light up intermittently to signal themselves and stay lit once hit. Several players can share the task. The message "The outer pedestals fall dormant. Golden eyes settle upon the three that remain" confirms success.

You then need to sacrifice three Enchant Relics on the three central pedestals. Bought from Merlin, they cost 208,000 C$, which is more expensive than the harpoon itself: better to have farmed them beforehand. Watch out for a trap: if you opened the Trident Temple just before, the game displays "The markings pulse, but the open door drowns their power" and blocks everything until the door is closed again, which takes a minute. Once the ritual is complete, the pedestals sink down and a staircase leads to the Poseidon's Armory, where the Trident Striker is sold for 175,000 C$ (-1763, -400, -2162).

The Relic Piercer, meanwhile, is the only crafted harpoon. The dedicated anvil is found in the Ancient Archives, with no minimum level required. The recipe: 3 Moonstones, 1 Marrow Meg's Spine and 2 Scrap Metal, plus 175,000 C$ — the Marrow version of the Meg's Spine being the only real bottleneck.

The ten enchantments exclusive to harpoons

Update 1.95 added twenty enchantments, ten for spears and ten for harpoons. Seven are obtained with an Enchant Relic at the Keepers Altar, the other three with a Cosmic Relic — and the latter stack on top of the former.

EnchantmentEffect
Ballistic+30% Velocity, +128% range
Barbed10% chance to instantly complete a PULL
ChainshotEach Perfect Catch progressively increases Velocity, Resilience and Progress Speed
Deadeye+20% Accuracy, +20% Velocity
Lightened-50% reload time, +25% Velocity, -10% Power
Stable+20% Resilience
Weighted+25% Power
Aberrant (Cosmic)+20% mutation rate, fish size modified from -25% to +35%
Polished (Cosmic)+3 chances for Shiny and Sparkling, +5% on all stats
Reinforced (Cosmic)+10% Resilience, +10% Power, -5% Velocity

Ballistic was fixed on August 2: its range bonus went from +10% to +128%, making it the most cost-effective enchantment on a long-range harpoon. On weapons with negative Resilience (Great Dream Waker, Crystal Crasher), Stable or Reinforced make the minigame significantly more readable; on the Steady, Lightened offsets its six-second reload, the worst in the game. And if you're harpooning to resell, Aberrant as a secondary is the way to go: mutations account for most of a catch's value.

Codes still valid as of August 6, 2026

Codes are entered at the bottom of the "Other" section of the Settings menu and are not case-sensitive. Only three are working today:

  • CARBON: the Carbon bobber, with no expiration date.
  • TemporarySubmarine: submarine parts (Back Fins, Metal Panels, Side Fins, Submarine Top, Windows), until October 18, 2026.
  • SCARLET: the Scarlet skin, until December 15, 2026.

Codes tied to recent updates — HarpoonGunsAreAwesome, HarpoonGunsNextWeek, RoamingFishAndWaterPark — all expired within 24 to 48 hours. That's the norm on Fisch, and third-party lists that still show them as active are just copying announcements without checking.

What to do this week

It all depends on your bankroll. Below 200,000 C$, buy the Steady, upgrade to the Relic Piercer as soon as you have a Marrow Meg's Spine, then unlock the Trident Striker: 175,000 C$ for 50,000 kg of capacity is the best progression-to-price ratio in the game. Beyond that, the Frost Biter remains the most enjoyable to play before tackling the Crystal Crasher's 2.4 million.

Also keep an eye on the calendar: Fischfest 2 closes on September 5, 2026 at 4:00 PM UTC, leaving a month to convert your Sunshells before the currency becomes useless. And harpoons are just one step: on its official X account, the team announced at launch that The Deep, the next stage of the July-October roadmap, would bring even more powerful gear. Best to stock up on relics now.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I catch Roaming Fish with my classic rod anymore?
The August 3 patch 1.95.2 removed the roamer bonus from ordinary rods, unless the fish is Divine, Secret, or Relic, or you have its favorite bait equipped. From now on, harpoons and spears are mandatory to take advantage of these creatures.
What's the best harpoon to start with?
The Steady Harpoon Gun at 9,000 C$ is unbeatable for early game: it's the only one with no associated mutation, it has the best Accuracy (50%), and it unlocks the Trident Vault ritual. From there, move up to the Relic Piercer or the Trident Striker at 175,000 C$.
How do you unlock the Trident Striker?
Equip any harpoon, put on the Advanced Diving Gear (15,000 C$), and dive into the Desolate Deep via the northern buoy of Sunstone Island. Access the ??? room and shoot the five wall markings with your harpoon; once the ritual is completed, you can buy the Trident Striker for 175,000 C$.
What's the real difference between Velocity and Accuracy?
None on the casting mechanic: Velocity simply increases the lifespan of the PULL buttons (1 + Velocity/100 seconds), and Accuracy enlarges their size. These are comfort stats only, they don't change your chances of catching the fish.
Does the HarpoonGunsAreAwesome code still work?
No, this code expired on August 2, 2026 at 4 PM UTC and the Chaotic Crasher skin it offered can no longer be redeemed. Look for other active codes on the official social channels.

Key takeaways

  • Roaming Fish are no longer accessible with ordinary fishing rods since patch 1.95.2: a harpoon or spear is now required to catch them
  • The PULL minigame relies on six distinct stats, of which Velocity and Accuracy only affect comfort, not the actual casting mechanic
  • The Relic Piercer and the Trident Striker at 175,000 C$ offer the best power-to-price ratio, far ahead of the Frost Biter at 270,000 C$
  • Each harpoon has a unique passive: the Crystal Crasher excels at market value, the Frost Biter at comfort, the Great Dream Waker at catch generation
  • The HarpoonGunsAreAwesome code expired on August 2 at 4 PM UTC and can no longer be used to redeem the Chaotic Crasher skin
