Final Fantasy XIV: Moonfire Faire 2026 guide — dates, quests and Floating Mog Caravan mount

The Moonfire Faire, Eorzea's grand summer festival, returns in Final Fantasy XIV from Wednesday, August 12 at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 4:59 p.m., Paris time. Subtitled "Float on this summer!", this 2026 edition goes all in on inflatable mattresses: a new quest chain launched by Mayaru Moyaru in Limsa Lominsa, a brand-new mount — the Mog Floatilla — and a small fleet of garden furniture bearing the likeness of the franchise's mascots.

As every year, the event is time-limited and Square Enix makes it clear: this quest chain can only be completed during the event's run. After August 26 at 4:59 p.m., the mount and seasonal furniture become unobtainable in-game — and past editions show that Moonfire Faire mounts usually end up on the online store, for real money. The only access requirement: a class or job of at least level 30.

The timing works out well: this is the first seasonal festival that new players who joined with the Nintendo Switch 2 version, launched on August 4, get to experience, and it's accessible during the free trial. Here are the exact dates, the starting point, the full list of rewards with their official English names, and what to prepare before Wednesday.

Dates, times and access requirements

• Start: Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. (Paris time);
• End: Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 4:59 p.m. — not midnight, don't get caught out;
• Requirement: a level 30 class or job, no other main scenario progress needed;
• Starting point: the NPC Mayaru Moyaru, in Limsa Lominsa - The Upper Decks (X:11.5, Y:13.8);
• Estimated duration: about half an hour to complete the quest chain.

The event is available on all platforms the game supports: PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S and, for the first time, Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix notes that the schedule is "subject to change", but the two-week window has been the Moonfire Faire standard for years.

Where to start: head to The Upper Decks, then Costa del Sol

Everything starts with the quest "Earning Your Water Wings", to be picked up from Mayaru Moyaru on The Upper Decks in Limsa Lominsa. The Lalafell in the green beanie stands just a few steps from the city's aetheryte, at X:11.5, Y:13.8. Unsurprisingly for a beach-themed event, the storyline then sends you to Costa del Sol, the well-known seaside resort in Eastern La Noscea, transformed this year into a cruise dock: the achievement tied to the quest is even called "Costa del Sol Cruises".

Completing this seasonal storyline unlocks the standout reward of the 2026 edition, the Mog Floatilla mount. A second quest, "Whoever Floats Your Raft", can be picked up from Haermaga, a recurring Moonfire Faire figure in Costa del Sol, and rewards ten Sunbursts, the spinning fireworks you can set off on the beach or in front of your free company house.

The highlight of the 2026 event, the Inflatable Mograft is a giant mog-shaped float that your character lies down on to be carried along. Its official description presents it as "an inflatable mattress originally meant for lounging on water," but the item doesn't just float: the English text confirms it also carries you over water as well as through the air. That means soaring above La Noscea while lying on an inflatable mog, which remains a rare proposition even after thirteen years of oddball mounts.

Unlike Feasting or shop mounts, this one costs nothing: it drops at the end of the quest series, once per character. If you play multiple characters, you'll need to redo the event on each of them.

All the rewards from the 2026 edition

In addition to the mount, the 2026 edition introduces three float-themed garden furnishings, perfect for turning the pool of a Private Cottage into a public swimming pool, as well as posters featuring the event's official artwork. Here is the full list, with the exact English client labels:

The nod is a nice touch: the 2025 and 2017 posters reuse artwork from past editions, a way to hang a piece of the game's history in your Eorzean living room. The exact split between quest rewards and items sold for gil will be visible in-game when it opens on August 12.

The seasonal vendor and items from previous years

Square Enix confirms that "some items from previous Moonfire Faire events can be obtained from a seasonal vendor" during the event. Temper your expectations, though: historically, this stall is limited to consumables and fireworks from past summers. The big-ticket items — like the polar bear mount from the 2021 edition — don't return to the vendor: they move to the official online store, for real money — the polar bear, for instance, is listed there for $12.

This is exactly why you shouldn't skip the Mog Floating Caravan, even if you never plan to use it: thirty minutes of quests during the event beat a cash purchase next summer. If an item from a past edition interests you, check the vendor's inventory starting August 12 rather than assuming it'll be there.

How to prepare before August 12

• Level a class to 30 if you haven't already. Any class works, including a secondary combat job; between the hunting log, the roulettes, and a dungeon or two, you'll clear that milestone in a few hours.
• Unlock Limsa Lominsa. Characters created in Gridania or Ul'dah naturally reach it through the main scenario, around level 15, when the story opens up connections between cities. On Switch 2, that leaves plenty of time to get there before August 26.
• Activate the aetheryte at Costa del Sol in Eastern La Noscea if you haven't already: you'll save yourself a round trip on the big day.
• Do the event on your main character first: the mount is tied to the character who completes the quests, not the account.
• Don't wait until the last day: the event closes on August 26 at 4:59 p.m., right in the middle of the afternoon, and the seasonal quests are permanently removed at that moment.

A packed August in Eorzea

The Moonfire Faire fits into a particularly dense month for Final Fantasy XIV. The 7.55 update on August 4 opened up northern Lunule and the Skyward Tower of Magic, the Yo-kai Watch event runs until early October, and the Switch 2 version has just arrived with its free trial on the eShop. If you need to prioritize, treat the Moonfire Faire as an absolute but short-lived priority: it's the only content on this list that disappears on August 26, while northern Lunule and its rewards will remain in place for months. Thirty minutes is all it takes—grab the floatie, the rest can wait.
