Final Fantasy XIV: the 2026 Anniversary event from August 27 to September 10 — the quest, the relocated Wandering Minstrel and the 7 listed items

Square Enix put the official French page for the 2026 Rememberance celebration online on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. (Paris time), subtitled “What Awaits at Journey's End...”. The seasonal Final Fantasy XIV event will run from Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. to Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 4:59 p.m., Paris time. The quest chain opens with “The Rhapsody of Vylbrandian Heroes”, to be picked up from the Wandering Minstrel, in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.0 Y:12.8). To access it, all that's required is a class or job of level 15.

The reason for the celebration is given word for word by the Lodestone announcement: “On Thursday, August 27, 2026, FINAL FANTASY XIV will celebrate the thirteenth anniversary of its rebirth!” The page adds the usual caveat — “Event times and dates are subject to change” — and reminds players that “this quest chain can only be completed during the event period”.

One point remains that the French page leaves ambiguous, and one best not get wrong before spending an evening on it: the section titled “Rewards” lists seven entries, three of which carry a 2024 or 2025 date in their own name. The English-language version of the same page, meanwhile, does not speak of rewards but of “Event Items”. We cross-referenced the official pages of the 2024 and 2025 editions to determine what can be confirmed and what cannot.

Dates, level, and starting point

• Start: Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. (Paris time);
• End: Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 4:59 p.m. (Paris time);
• Level required: 15, on any class or job;
• Quest: “The Rhapsody of Vylbrandian Heroes”;
• NPC: the Wandering Minstrel, in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, at X:11.0 Y:12.8.

The North American times published on the English-language version of the same page match up: from August 27 at 12:00 a.m. to September 10 at 7:59 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), which does correspond to 9:00 a.m. and 4:59 p.m. in Paris. There is therefore no localization discrepancy to worry about for this window, unlike what has happened with other seasonal pages.

The official quest hook is a single line: “The wandering minstrel looks troubled.” The English version says a bit more, specifying that his concern involves a visitor from Vylbrand, the island on which Limsa Lominsa is built. This detail was lost in the French translation.

The Wandering Minstrel is no longer in the same spot as in 2024 and 2025

A concrete detail that most event reminders copy from one year to the next without checking: the coordinates have moved. The official pages for the 2024 and 2025 editions both placed the Wandering Minstrel at X:11.3 Y:13.7. The 2026 edition lists him at X:11.0 Y:12.8. He's still on the Upper Decks, just a few steps away, but if you follow a guide from last year you'll be heading to the wrong landing.

The seven entries in the “Rewards” section

The French page lists all seven items under a single heading, "Récompenses" ("Rewards"), itself split into two blocks: Mascotte ("Mascot", one entry) and Objets ("Items", six entries). On the English-language page, this same block is titled "Event Items", rather than "Rewards". Both versions, however, carry the same footnote: "Some items from previous Moonfire Faire events may be obtained from a seasonal vendor."

Here is the complete list with the labels from the French client and the category assigned to them by the Eorzea Database. The last column indicates whether the item's official page, on the "Obtained from" line, carries the mention "Seasonal Event Reward".

The three orchestrion rolls are the only ones out of the seven items to carry this "Obtained from" line. The other four entries show no indication of provenance at all. This is not proof in itself — the field is sometimes left blank, including for mascots from past events — but it is the only official signal available today, and it points in the same direction as the footnote. Note, incidentally, that Square Enix leaves the titles of the three tracks in English: they are not translated in the French client.

What the comparison with 2024 and 2025 reveals

We went back and reread the official pages for the two previous editions, still online. They are much sparser, and above all: neither the 2024 poster nor the 2025 poster appears there.

• 2024 edition, "Illuminated Horizons and Rekindled Memories", quest "A Moonfire Faire in the Western Wind City": the "Rewards" section contained two entries, the mascot New Krile Minion and the Moonfire Faire Table Lamp. No poster.
• 2025 edition, "Ghosts of the Past and Bright Futures", quest "Adventure Has Its Reasons...": the section was called "Reward", singular, and contained only a single item, the mascot Gulool Ja Ja Minion.

In other words, a poster bearing the 2025 date was never presented as a reward from the 2025 edition. This makes it unlikely that the 2026 quest would suddenly hand out posters from both previous years at once. The cautious phrasing, and the only one the source allows for, is this: the official page lists seven items for the 2026 period, and some of them come from the seasonal vendor rather than from the quest. We will correct this section as soon as the game settles the matter, on August 27.

Three editions compared

Two takeaways. First, the required level hasn't changed from one edition to the next: 15 in all three cases. Second, the 2026 window closes on September 10, whereas those of 2024 and 2025 ran through the 11th. So you have one day less than last year.

The seasonal vendor, and what the page doesn't say

The official notice mentions "a seasonal vendor" without giving a name, without indicating a zone, coordinates, or which currency she accepts. The wording is strictly identical on the 2024 and 2025 pages: Square Enix never details this stall before it opens. The only useful approach, then, is to talk to her on the first day and read her inventory yourself, rather than assuming a specific item will be there.

Three of the seven entries are furnishings: two "Wall-mounted Furnishing" and one "Tabletop Furnishing." You'll need an indoor space — a personal house, an apartment, or a free company room — to hang or place them. If you don't have one, the items can still be stored, but they won't be of any use right away.

The September schedule: patch 7.56 arrives two days before the event closes

Context matters for planning your evenings. Update 7.56, the one bringing the Beastmaster limited job, is announced for Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The Moonfire Faire, meanwhile, closes on Thursday, September 10 at 4:59 p.m. That leaves only two days between the arrival of the new job and the disappearance of the seasonal event.

In short, saving the Moonfire Faire "for later" is a bad idea: on September 8, everyone's attention will shift elsewhere, and seasonal quests are removed from the game at the stated time, with no grace period.

To do before Thursday, August 27

1. Level a class to 15. That's the same threshold as for the 2024 and 2025 editions, and it doesn't require any particular progress in the main scenario.
2. Make sure you have access to Limsa Lominsa. Characters born in Gridania or Ul'dah can reach it through the main scenario: check that the Deck aetheryte is properly registered.
3. Clear some space in your inventory. The 7 announced entries include three furnishings and three orchestrion rolls: it's not huge, but a full bag will block item turn-ins.
4. Stop by the seasonal vendor on August 27, before drawing any conclusions about what the quest rewards.
5. Don't wait for the last week. The event closes on a Thursday at 4:59 p.m., in the middle of the day, and just two days after the release of patch 7.56.
