Eternal Ice Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Getting it by defeating the Gargant
In brief
Everlasting Ice is a precious and rare item from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that you can obtain by defeating the Gargant boss at the Blazing Glacier Terminal. This strategic item can then be exchanged with the Grandis Merchant to unlock new equipment and progress through the game.
At the heart of the breathtaking universe of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the Eternal Ice is a prized item coveted by many players. This precious and rare element allows you to acquire new tradeable items and is an essential raw material for progressing through the game. Let's see how to obtain this ice deposit and how to use it.

Location of the Gargant Boss in the Frozen Hearts
To receive the Eternal Ice in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you'll need to face and defeat the Gargant. This hulking boss is located in a specific area called Frozen Heart, at the Blazing Glacier Terminal. To get there, leave Monoco Station via the back door, then head east after passing through the Carousel to reach the Frozen Heart.
Once in this icy area, a rest point is available. From this point, head all the way to the left, where the Pilgrim is located, and you'll spot the entrance to a cave. Follow this underground passage until you see a golden thread allowing you to gain height. At the exit, you'll be at the flag of the Ice Falls rest point.
From this new checkpoint, look ahead to see another golden thread near 2 Fire-type enemies. Follow this thread to reach a spot where you'll encounter two Fire Dancers. Go past these enemies to find a grappling point allowing you to cross to the other side. At the end of the path, you'll reach climbing ledges on the cliff. Climb up and you'll discover an entrance resembling a station.

Battle against the Gargant and rewards
Through the station, you'll discover a new rest point called "Frozen Heart." From there, you need to climb up the train wreck and keep going until you reach the top. The summit of the Frozen Heart is the Blazing Glacier Terminal, where the Gargant awaits you.
This boss has a particular combat mechanic with two stances: Ice and Fire. In Ice stance, the Gargant absorbs ice attacks (which heal it) and becomes vulnerable to fire, while in its Fire stance, it absorbs fire attacks which heal it, but yes that's logical!) and becomes vulnerable to ice. This shift in the Gargant's state depending on the attacks is a highly strategic combat mechanic that requires constantly adapting your approach.
After defeating the Gargant, you'll finally obtain the much sought-after Eternal Ice. And that's not all! Indeed, you'll also benefit from other interesting rewards:
- Three Grand Chroma Catalysts
- Anti-Burn Pictos
- The Snowim weapon

Using the Eternal Ice
As soon as you retrieve the Eternal Ice, you'll need to return to Monoco Station to make use of this item. Head to the Grandis Merchant located near the station's entrance. By bringing him the Eternal Ice, you'll be able to access new items from his inventory, particularly Pictos, or even upgraded weapons, etc.
Thus, the Eternal Ice appears on one hand as the trophy of a formidable opponent, and on the other hand, serves as a tool to help you develop your equipment throughout this wonderful adventure that is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
