Delta Force: the Fishing mode guide — two rods, three maps and a four-tier Certification
In brief
Delta Force integrates a surprising Fishing mode with its S11 season "Reorientation", accessible at Operations Level 17 after meeting Joe Reed at Layali Grove. Two rods offer distinct mini-games, and progression revolves around a four-tier Certification (Advanced, Veteran, Master, Grandmaster), across three maps on Easy difficulty with rotating schedules.
Team Jade posted the S11 "Reorientation" season notes on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 12:00 UTC — 2:00 PM in Paris — marking the second anniversary of Delta Force. The studio publishes them in full in French: every label quoted here is theirs, not ours. Amid the ammunition tweaks slips in an unexpected mode for an extraction game: Fishing.
It arrives with the no-downtime update on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Team Jade only publishes UTC times: Operations and Warfare ranked queues close at 00:30 UTC, matchmaking, the Market and the Auction House at 01:59 UTC, client switchover at 02:00 UTC. That is 2:30 AM, 3:59 AM and 4:00 AM in Paris, on daylight saving time — this is our conversion, not data from the publisher. The two other modes announced the same day carry an availability date — October 16 for Polaris Patrol, after mid-season for the 1v1 — Fishing carries none. We deduce that it opens with the season; the studio writes this nowhere.
Unlocking Fishing: two phrasings for a single mission
The notes give the access condition in two places, in different terms. The mode's section lines up two conditions: "Operations Level 17" and "Layali Grove - Easy, find the fishing enthusiast Joe Reed". Further on, in the Operations adjustments chapter, it is summarized as follows: "reaching Operations Level 17 and completing the fishing mission to obtain a fishing rod unlocks the Fishing feature". The first asks you to find a character, the second to complete a mission.
The common core remains clear: Operations Level 17 and a mandatory step through Joe Reed, one of the three non-player characters added to the revamped Layali Grove alongside Zola Zar and Taj Faris. A third mention slips in an additional step, the exclusive fishing expansion crate activating "after retrieving Joe Reed's email". Expect a short chain — encounter, mission, email — that the notes never detail. Level 17 is also the level of the EDC Toolbox, without which nothing works.
Two rods, two mini-games
The two rods do not catch the same catches — "Each type of rod allows you to catch different fish" — and are not played the same way.
| Rod | What you watch | The action, verbatim | Tension |
|---|---|---|---|
| Float Fishing Rod | The float, on the surface | "As soon as it fully sinks underwater, reel quickly" | None described |
| Lure Fishing Rod | The surface and the line's state | "As soon as the line tightens, reel quickly" | Color code, possible breakage |
The Lure Fishing Rod duel is the only passage detailed in depth: once the fish is hooked, you must "observe the direction in which it struggles and reel in the opposite direction to exhaust its stamina". Tension is read by color, and the studio gives it as is: "white = low, yellow = medium, red = high. Excessive tension will break it, but you can reduce it by letting out a bit of line." Gear is bought at the Fishing Shop and assembled "on the fishing rod modification screen". Rods, lines and bait are mentioned without a single item name or price: beware of lists that will circulate before then.
The EDC Toolbox: the rule that changes the risk calculation
The cane can't be carried in the bag. Outside of matches, it's stored in the EDC Toolbox, a container unlocked at Operations Level 17 provided you own "at least one item of the 'Portable Tool' type"; in-match, it's accessed "via the EDC Toolbox wheel." Four rules are attached to it, spelled out in black and white:
- these items "cannot be removed from or dropped from the toolbox during a match";
- they "are not counted in the Entry Gear Value";
- they can only be placed into or removed from it outside of matches;
- they "will not be dropped or lost in the event of a failed extraction."
Carrying a cane therefore costs nothing on entry and isn't lost on exit, even a failed one. Six items are compatible as of now — Golden Football, Iridescent Football, Ahsarah Card Box, Drone, Fishing Rod, and Little Miss - Shark Model — with a promise: "We will continue to expand the list of compatible items." The protection covers the contents of the box, never the fish caught. Another passage confirms this implicitly — "Whether a fish is successfully extracted or sold does not affect its recorded data in the gallery" — an unnecessary clarification if a catch couldn't be lost in the first place.
Certification, gallery and achievements
Catches earn Fishing EXP, which raises your Fishing Level; "once a certain Fishing Level is reached," you must find Joe Reed again and "pass an assessment" to improve your Fishing Certification. No threshold or number of levels has been published. The stakes, however, are made explicit: "The higher your Fishing Certification, the more advanced rods, lines and baits you can use to catch more fish and rarer species." It's the certification that governs the gear, not the level alone.
Four tiers are named, but in the achievements section: "Fishing Trip" has "4 tiers in total" and requires reaching the Advanced, Veteran, Master and Grandmaster Fishing Certifications. There is no indication that these are the only tiers in the system: they are simply the ones the achievement rewards.
The gallery records, per species, "the highest rarity obtained, as well as the maximum and minimum lengths and weights." A fishing match score is added to Operations, "catching certain rare fish unlocks the corresponding score" — without any species being named. Lastly, the Exclusive Fishing Expansion Case is "automatically equipped in your Stash, without taking up an existing expansion slot": free storage, not in-match insurance.
Where to fish: the S11 rotation the French version didn't publish
Three maps are open to fishing, all on Easy difficulty: Zero Dam, Layali Grove and AZ3. Being able to get into them is another matter — and this is where the French version falls short. The announcement states "The Operations map rotation for the new season is as follows:" and then moves straight to the next paragraph. The table that was announced isn't there. We compared the two versions of the post on Sunday, September 6, 2026: the English one has twelve images, the French one eleven, and the gap comes down to a single piece of content, the "S11 OPERATIONS MAP ROTATION" infographic — placed exactly where the French version shows nothing.

| Fishing map | What the S11 chart says | Paris time slots (our conversion) |
|---|---|---|
| Layali Grove - Easy | Permanent, with the mention "SQUAD FILL" that the chart does not translate | Any time |
| AZ3 - Easy | Six two-hour slots: 0-2, 4-6, 8-10, 12-14, 16-18 and 20-22 UTC | 2am-4am, 6am-8am, 10am-noon, 2pm-4pm, 6pm-8pm and 10pm-midnight |
| Zero Dam - Easy | Absent from the chart, neither in rotation nor permanent | Not published |
The Paris time slots are our conversion from Coordinated Universal Time, at UTC+2; they will stop being accurate once winter time returns. On Zero Dam we won't go any further, as the chart does not mention it anywhere: switch the Steam post to English to see the image missing from the French version. Layali Grove, meanwhile, gains four Jet Skis that "can travel across all of its river zones", along with an "optimization and connection of the entire river network".
What to remember
Fishing is not a leisure activity set apart from Operations: it plugs into it via the EDC Toolbox and feeds an independent progression. Low entry cost — gear does not count toward the entry Equipment Value and is not lost on a failed extraction — but a high ceiling, with Certification gating access to rare species.
Three gaps remain as of September 6, 2026: no item names, no numerical thresholds, and — for French-speaking readers only — no rotation chart. The only certainty comes down to one line: Layali Grove on Easy, open around the clock, with Joe Reed waiting at the end of the path.

Key takeaways
- The EDC Toolbox allows you to bring a rod without penalty on entry and without risk of loss if extraction fails.
- Each rod plays differently: the float watches the surface while the lure depends on a color code and a tension mechanic to balance.
- Fishing Certification, not just level, unlocks advanced gear — it governs progression.
- Layali Grove is permanent for fishing, while AZ3 offers six daily two-hour slots and Zero Dam remains absent from the official rotation.
- Catches are recorded in your gallery independently of extraction: even a fish lost in a match still counts toward your collection.
