Batman's Mythic Grapnel Gun in Fortnite: how to get it

The Batman Grapnel Gun is a Mythic limited to the Hot Bat Summer event in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 - available until August 19, 2026, the season's end date. No rank or quest requirements: you just need gold or luck in the chests. Here's how to get your hands on it without wasting time.

Method 1: buy directly from Batman

This is the reliable method. Batman is an NPC positioned on the beach west of the Fishing Dock POI, on the island north of Golden Grove. He sells a single unit of the Grapnel Gun per match, for 2,000 Gold Bars.

The obvious advantage is that you know exactly where to go and what it costs. The downside is that the weapon may already be gone if another player got there before you. Rush there right at the start of the match if you're aiming for this purchase.

Method 2: search chests

The Grapnel Gun can also drop from regular chests. But here, it's pure luck. Rare Chests offer the best probability of seeing it appear. If you can't afford the 2,000 Gold Bars or if Batman is already out of stock, this option remains your plan B.

• Rare chests: better drop chance

Rules to know before using it

A few important mechanics to grasp before heading out on the hunt:

• You can only carry one Grapnel Gun at a time. Picking up a second one automatically replaces the first.
• If you come across a second Grapnel Gun with more remaining ammo than yours, take it - ammo doesn't recharge.
• Once the 27 hooks are used up, the item is automatically discarded.

How Batman's Grapnel Gun works

Mechanically, it behaves as it did when it first appeared in Season X: it's a long-range grappling hook. You aim at a point, and you're propelled toward it. Longer range than the classic grapnel. If you gain enough height during the pull, Batman's Glider Cape automatically deploys - handy for crossing the map or bailing out of a fight gone wrong.

Note

After each use, expect a 3-second cooldown before you can fire again. Not huge, but enough for the enemy to keep you in sight if you're repositioning. Manage your 27 hooks wisely: a panicked escape that burns five hooks at once will hurt over the course of a match.

A few optimization tips

In terms of priority, rush to Batman at the start of the match if you have 2,000 Gold Bars on hand - it's the only way to guarantee the item. The location on the west beach of the Fishing Dock is exposed, so be prepared for a potential confrontation when buying.

The Grapnel Gun shines during quick repositioning phases or for reaching elevated areas. But with 27 non-renewable charges, it would be a shame to waste it on exploration. Save it for final circles or situations where mobility truly changes the outcome of a fight.

And if you come across a Grapnel Gun on the ground with 25 hooks while yours is down to 10 - it can't be said enough, swap it out. Ammo is precious and doesn't come back.
