Marvel's Wolverine: three-tier rage takes center stage in new video
In brief
Insomniac has unveiled in video form Marvel's Wolverine's rage system, a three-tier mechanic driving survival, tenacity and fury. Between special techniques, unlockable outfits and a New Game+ post-game mode, the title promises a depth of gameplay well beyond simple carnage.
Insomniac Games released on August 28 the features trailer for Marvel's Wolverine: four minutes narrated by Liam McIntyre, the voice of Logan. After the "Ain't No Hero" cinematic from July, which set the tone, this one lifts the hood.
Rage as the engine
Aaron Jason Espinoza's post describes rage as "a primal adrenaline reserve with three tiers" fueling, in this order, survival, tenacity, and fury. Two outcomes: the last stand, or the berserker madness that follows it.
Orbiting around it are dozens of upgrades — taking more bullets, lengthening parry windows, terrorizing the opponent — and four special techniques equippable at the same time, including Razor Whirl, Crusher, and Slicing Spin. The suits, from Weapon X to Ultimate Wolverine by way of Patch, unlock distinct claws: bone, jagged, curved, reflective, angular.
After the credits
Logan's Nightmare Cabin centralizes the New Game + mode, with exclusive techniques and a raised player level, the Replay Mission feature, and scoreable Nightmares. Nightmare Gates can be found along the way, between skirmishes against Omega Red or Deathstrike. The Photo Mode, for its part, arrives with the day-one update.
Insomniac claims over 100 accessibility features: high contrast, adjustable overall game speed, strong haptic cues. One nuance that matters: audio description only exists in English, as does the profanity filter.
Release on September 15, 2026, PS5 only. Less than three weeks away.
