Aion 2: the Korean patch from August 5, 2026 caps the familiar's automatic loot pickup
In brief
NCSOFT caps the pet auto-loot feature at two monthly purchases per character and makes it resellable for bound kinah, curbing excessive monetization. The Korean patch from August 5 eases tensions after a month of massive PvP nerfs, with targeted fixes to boss patterns and the addition of seven free costumes to the wardrobe.
NCSOFT released the August 5 (Wednesday) update notes for Aion 2's Korean version on August 4, 2026 at 7:30 PM (Seoul time), and they stand out after a month of frantic balancing: not a single line of class tuning. After the 30% cut to PvP damage, the Abyss Rift overhaul, and the Brawler and Templar rework delivered on July 29, the studio is easing off.
What remains breaks down into three blocks. The automatic pet pickup ticket, introduced seven days earlier, now falls under a monthly quota and becomes resellable. The wardrobe gets seven free patterns and two weeks of half-price customization. Finally, a series of fixes targets Sanctuary, Transcendence, and Expedition bosses, with two class interactions simply removed.
Two months ahead of the Western release — early access on September 30, 2026 for Founder's Pack holders, general launch on October 5 — this kind of stabilization patch tells us more about the actual state of the build than any big convention announcement.
Automatic pet pickup now falls under a monthly quota
This is the point that's going to get people talking. The "Pet: Auto Pickup Ticket (30 Days)" (펫: 자동 줍기권 (30일)), sold in the game shop under the Special tab of the Sandeulbaram counter (산들바람 상회), is now limited to two purchases per character per month.
The second change is less obvious but more interesting: the bound version of the ticket (각인) can now be resold to the village trinket merchant at the exact price it was purchased for. However, the proceeds from the sale are paid out in bound Kinah (각인 키나), meaning a non-tradeable currency. NCSOFT's notes don't specify which currency the ticket was originally purchased with.
Some context: the automatic pet pickup feature didn't exist before the July 29 patch. It was delivered right away as a paid item, applying to the character rather than the account, with a remaining-duration counter viewable in the Pet tab of the menu. In other words, a player rerolling multiple characters had to buy multiple tickets. Today's cap doesn't lower the price, but it prevents massive stockpiling of duration in advance — and it closes the door on any player-to-player ticket resale market, since reselling only yields bound Kinah.
For the West, the signal is clear: the feature will very likely be present at launch, in a monetized form, with an anti-hoarding safeguard put in place before the global build arrives. The topic of paid convenience remains sensitive for a free-to-play MMO that already ties part of its features to an optional subscription.
Deva Look Change Week: half-price customization until August 19
The Deva Look Change Week event (데바 룩 체인지 위크) runs from August 5 after maintenance to August 19 before maintenance. The customization cost per piece of equipment drops from 200 to 100 Quna, a 50% discount, and above all with no limit on attempts.
In practice, you go through the Wardrobe menu (옷장) then the palette-shaped button to dye the appearance of armor and weapons you already own. Each selected piece exposes four independent sliders: dye, material, pattern, and pattern color. This is the window to take advantage of if you're playing on the Korean server and have been putting off your character's aesthetic overhaul: at 100 Quna per piece with no cap on attempts, a full set costs a fraction of the usual price.
Seven patterns added to the wardrobe for free
Still in the wardrobe, under Customization then Patterns, NCSOFT adds seven new patterns, at no cost: horizontal stripes, vertical stripes, star, zebra, diamond checkerboard, cow and houndstooth. They are available to everyone, permanently, which is convenient since they can be combined with the 50% discount mentioned above.

Store: four outfits, nine weapon skins and two pairs of wings
The promotional showcase follows the same schedule, from August 5 to 19. The prices below are those of the PURPLE Store; NCSOFT specifies that they may vary from one store to another. The euro conversions are indicative, and the item names below are working translations: nothing has been officially published in French yet.
| Item | Type | Price |
|---|---|---|
| White Christmas (4 pieces) | Armor skin | 49,000 won (≈ €28) |
| Black White (5 pieces) | Armor skin | 49,000 won (≈ €28) |
| Rest Bath (4 pieces) | Armor skin | 2,500 Quna |
| Black Snow Wind (7 pieces) | Armor skin | 2,500 Quna |
| Winter Night's Frost Flower | Weapon skin (9 variants) | 19,000 won each (≈ €11) |
| Icy Frost Wings | Wings, once per character | 29,000 won (≈ €16.50) |
| Wings of the Light Wave | Wings, once per character | 1,500 Quna |
The two 49,000 won sets earn 4,900 loyalty points, weapon skins 1,900 — except when purchased via an exchange ticket, which credits nothing. All these items are non-tradeable, non-deletable and cannot be stored in the warehouse, but remain dyeable: they therefore feed directly into the customization event.
A detail that confirms each class's weapon
The "Winter Night's Frost Flower" line has an interest that goes beyond the cosmetic: each variant is reserved for a single class, which gives a weapon/class correspondence officially confirmed by NCSOFT — useful as the question of Western class names has been dragging on for weeks.
| Weapon (KR) | Class (KR) | Western name |
|---|---|---|
| 대검 — greatsword | 검성 | Gladiator |
| 장검 — longsword | 수호성 | Templar |
| 단검 — dagger | 살성 | Assassin |
| 활 — bow | 궁성 | Ranger |
| 법서 — grimoire | 마도성 | Sorcerer |
| 보주 — orb | 정령성 | Spiritmaster |
| 전곤 — mace | 치유성 | Cleric |
| 법봉 — scepter | 호법성 | Chanter |
| 권갑 — gauntlets | 권성 | Brawler |
Nine classes, nine weapons, no ambiguity on the Korean side. One caveat, however: the French client for Aion 2 does not yet exist. The French labels above are those from the French client of the original Aion and remain to be confirmed in-game after September 30.
The fixes that actually change something in dungeons
Two class interactions are being removed, and they were being exploited:
- At the Sanctuary "Erosion Purifier" (침식의 정화소), the bombs summoned by the boss Bagot the Polymer (중합체 바고트) can no longer be dodged with the Assassin's Evasive Stance (회피 자세).
- At the Transcendence "Abyssal Horn Cavern" (심연의 뿔 암굴), the bleed zone of the boss Gargaum (가르가움) can no longer be cleared by the Gladiator's Wave Armor (파동의 갑주).
The same boss Bagot now correctly chains his follow-up attack when the group fails to respond to the "Bagot blows everything up!" (바고트, 다 터뜨린다!) pattern: the punish window existed in the design, but it wasn't triggering. Gargaum also has his skill Blue Light of Destruction (파괴의 푸른 빛) renamed to Expanding Origin (팽창하는 원시).
On the Expedition "Castle of the Fallen Deva" (타락한 데바의 성) side, the boss Griosa (그리오사) would intermittently fail to fire any projectiles during his "Storm of Ruin" (파멸의 폭풍) pattern — fixed.
The rest is housekeeping:
- Upon entering Nightmare (악몽) mode, the Templar's Armor of Nobility (고결의 갑주) and the Chanter's Blessing of Protection (수호의 축복) are no longer dispelled. This was a straight-up buff loss on every attempt.
- In the Ishalgen episode quest, "The Deserted Lake" (발길이 끊긴 호수): at Lake Tunapre, the jewel's servants were attacking the veil jewel.
- Options: the numeric value displayed next to the tier in the network status indicator is now hidden.
- Season missions: the per-stage counters for trial dungeon missions were incorrectly worded.
- Brawler: the tooltip for the third specialization of Focused Block (집중 막기) incorrectly stated a maximum of three casts.

Compensation: Abyss Points and forgotten outfits
Two payouts accompany the maintenance. First, the Abyss Points lost on July 1 in the Abyss Corridor (어비스 회랑), where the gain was reduced based on the level gap between the character and the monsters. They are being credited proportionally to the total time spent in the corridor, only for characters who entered it at levels 49 and 50.
Second, the Special grade appearance exchange tickets distributed on July 1 had omitted three pieces of the "Cozy Bunny Outfit" (포근한 토끼 외형 옷): the full set, the top, and the boots. The missing tickets are being sent out.
What a week without balancing means
Since the launch of Chapter 1 "Land of Sand and Frost" on July 1, every Korean Wednesday brought its share of class tweaks: July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29. August 5 breaks the streak. For an MMO that must ship a locked Western build in eight weeks, a week-long freeze is not an admission of failure: it's the observation window needed to gauge the effect of the Brawler and Templar overhaul before touching anything else again.
The real lesson of the patch lies elsewhere. By capping the automatic loot pickup ticket just one week after putting it on sale, NCSOFT shows that it adjusts its convenience monetization in real time, and that it prefers to do so on the Korean version while it still has the leisure to. The same trade-off will arrive in the Western store — probably already capped. Next appointment: the Wednesday, August 12th patch notes, which should reveal whether the balancing lull was just a breather or the start of the pre-launch freeze.
