In brief

The July 29 Korean patch reworks seven of Aion 2's nine classes: a major Brawler overhaul with Full Force, a specialization switcher for the Templar, and quality-of-life additions like Character Switch and pet auto-loot. This is the last major balance pass before the Western build locks in for the September 30 early access.

Exactly two months before the Western open of early access on September 30, 2026, NCsoft is still fine-tuning the Korean version. The July 29 patch is a broad balancing pass: seven classes out of nine affected, an in-depth Brawler rework, a build swapper for the Templar, a new Character Switch function and a purchasable auto-loot pet in the shop. All of it capped off by two weeks of bonuses on Expedition and Transcendence. This is the last major marker before the Western build gets locked in.

Seven classes reworked, a major overhaul for the Brawler

The patch affects: Templar, Brawler, Ranger, Chanter, Cleric, Spiritmaster, Sorcerer, plus a shared block on common skills. Only the Gladiator and the Assassin escape this week, having already been trimmed during the big PvP pass on July 8.

The standout overhaul this week is the Brawler's Full Force. The spell becomes an all-in move: it fully consumes the Rampage gauge and scales directly on the Rage accumulated at the moment of execution. It's a finishing burst that rewards a properly set-up opening rather than rotation spam. In 3v3 arena, where the Brawler had been looking for a mechanical identity since launch, the tool is finally here. In PvE, the class gains a genuine bullet-check phase against the cyclical world bosses of Eltnen and Morheim.

Templar: Noble Armor and Second Skin become a real choice

The Templar receives a specialization swapper between Noble Armor and Second Skin. In practical terms, the two paths move from two "stances" that were poorly balanced against each other to a true spec swap with two distinct playstyles: Noble Armor pushes flat mitigation and aggro for tanking in group instances, while Second Skin smooths damage over time and boosts survivability in duels and arena. The July 22 patch had left the Templar in a tricky spot; this one gives it back some footing.

For the Ranger, same catch-up logic: the Mother Nature's Breath pass reworks the signature skill. The Korean community's report of the day has it climbing back up in Battleground picks after two weeks in a slump.

Chanter, Cleric, Spiritmaster, Sorcerer: targeted trims

The other affected classes receive a more limited treatment. Chanter and Cleric — who had come out stronger from the July 22 survival patch — retain their dominant position as raid support, but see some buff durations shortened to smooth out their presence in arena. The Spiritmaster and the Sorcerer, which have been lagging since the PvP-wide 30% reduction on July 8, get back some damage ratios on their core spells, without returning to their May launch level.

On the whole, the logic remains the one set in motion on the 8th: removing the one-shot windows that haunted Korean arenas at launch, without breaking the classes' vertical identity. This is the model NC America will inherit for the Western early access launch in September.

Character Switch and auto-loot pet: the missing QoL

On the quality-of-life side, two additions stand out. The Character Switch function is a quick re-login shortcut between characters on the same account, without going back through the login queue and without fully exiting the client. On an MMO where alt-play is structural — between Kinah material farming, daily instances, and the Elyos/Asmodian race on PvP servers —, it's one of the most requested additions since the Japanese launch. It works server by server, without crossing time zones.

The pet auto-loot, meanwhile, is sold in the premium shop as a time-limited service. It's the classic of the category: the companion automatically picks up loot on the ground within a defined radius, which saves considerable time on repetitive Abyss farms and looping instances. The Korean price has no announced Western equivalent at this stage, but the mere existence of the feature is irking some Aion Classic veterans who see it as a foot in the door of pay-to-convenience. NC America will need to clarify its stance.

UI and map: the Transparent Map follow-up

The July 22 patch had introduced the Transparent Map, a semi-transparent map overlay laid over the game screen with group markers and points of interest. The one from the 29th comes to polish the finishing touches: reworked tooltips, harmonized instance waiting rooms, and final display tweaks on the overlay. This kind of pass is standard in Korean MMO post-launch, but it matters for the West: it's the stable version that will release on PC and Mac on September 30.

Two weeks of bonuses and Chaos Fragment: a bridge laid until the next content

On the events side, a reward boost on Expedition and Transcendence covers the next two weeks. It introduces a new consumable, the Chaos Fragment (Bound), account-bound, which feeds an alternative crafting track on cap-50 gear from the Eltnen and Morheim regions. The stated goal is twofold: re-engage Korean players who dropped off after the post-Chapter 1 sprint, and give returning players a hook before the next content tier.

The weekend cosmetic pack — the Classic Athletic costume and the Song of the Blue Sea pass — plays its usual role as a premium showcase. It doesn't shift balancing, but it funds maintenance of the live track until Chapter 2, expected in the fall in Korea.

What this says about the Western September 30 build

Aion 2 is moving forward in a straight line. Since the Asian launch in May, Korea has already gone through Chapter 1 (Fistmaster, cap 50, Eltnen and Morheim), the July 8 PvP-wide 30% cut, the July 22 survival pass, and now the Brawler rework and Templar spec swap on the 29th. This is the build that will land on Steam and PURPLE for Founder's early access on September 30, with the free worldwide release on October 5.

Three points remain to be locked down for the West before that date. First, the Western pricing of the unified Deva Membership and especially of the pet auto-loot — the former arbitrates the F2P model, the latter sets the bar for pay-to-convenience. Next, the technical beta test schedule, still unclear: NC America has mentioned an internal phase in August without public commitment. Finally, the date of the Korean Chapter 2, which will determine whether the West launches on an already stabilized patch or within a still-shifting balancing window.

For Founder's Pack holders, the roadmap now reads clearly: rush to level cap 50 starting September 30, test out the Brawler's new Full Force or the Templar's spec swap, and keep an eye out for the next NC America communication expected before the end of August. The July 29 patch wasn't spectacular — it's a polish patch. But that's exactly what was expected two months out from the global launch: no more brutal reworks, just refinement.

Frequently asked questions

What is Full Force, the Brawler's new tool?
It's a final burst that fully consumes the Rampage gauge and scales directly with the Rage accumulated at the moment of execution. This rewards a properly built combat opener rather than rotation spam, finally giving the Brawler an identity mechanic in 3v3 arena and a genuine bullet-check phase in PvE.
How does the Templar's switcher work?
Noble Armor and Second Skin go from two poorly balanced stances to a true spec swap: Noble Armor pushes flat mitigation and aggro for group tanking, while Second Skin smooths damage over time and boosts duel/arena survival. It's a genuine gameplay choice depending on context.
Does Character Switch require a premium feature?
No, it's a free quality-of-life feature: it lets you switch between characters on the same account without going back through the login queue and without fully exiting the client. It works server by server, without crossing time zones.
Is pet auto-loot paid?
Yes, pet auto-loot is sold in the premium shop in Korea as a timed service. It's a classic pay-to-convenience feature that feeds farming materials, but NC America hasn't yet announced its Western price.
Which Western build inherits from the July 29 Korean patch?
It's exactly this Korean build that will land on Steam and PURPLE for the Founder's early access on September 30, with the free global launch on October 5. It includes Chapter 1, the July 8 30% PvP-wide cut, and the survival and Brawler/Templar passes.
