How to Consume Sake
To consume sake in Ghost of Yotei, simply hold down the D-pad button. Atsu will immediately drink a jar of sake, provided you have some in your inventory. This simple action lets you recover between one and two points of Resolve, an essential resource for progressing through the adventure.
The state of drunkenness is marked by blurred vision and a swaying effect that gives the impression the world is floating around Atsu. These effects will increase if you decide to drink two jars one after the other.

Be careful not to consume too much sake at once: indeed, a third drink will trigger a vomiting animation and you won't be able to interact with your environment anymore, as your screen will be so blurry...
By default, Atsu can carry 2 jars of sake at the same time. If you try to pick up more, an error message will appear. To find out how many jars you have, a quick trip to the Inventory menu, then Resources, is in order.
Finally, it's worth noting that sake is a single-use consumable item. Once drunk, you'll need to find a jar to get its benefits again. These are not reusable containers, but they can be used to distract enemies (or draw their attention) to allow for stealth attacks, or possibly to dazzle two or three opponents for a few moments.
Diehard trophy hunters will learn that the challenge called "Wolf Bait" in Ghost of Yotei involves provoking a wolf's attack with an empty jar of sake.
Where to Find Sake
Sake can be found just about everywhere in Ghost of Yotei. On the whole, it's found more often in camps, abandoned houses, and outposts. In fact, traces of sake can be found in every inhabited place within Atsu's material existence.
It's common to come across empty open jars in enemy camps. As mentioned above, these jars don't contain sake, unless you're playing with the Snakeskin Armor (available only in the game's digital deluxe edition...).
One could imagine stocking up on sake by buying it directly from merchants in Ainu camps and major gathering places. A jar costs 10 copper coins, and generally, they offer 3 at a time. Note that merchants have stock but replenish their supply, which allows for repeat visits to these same merchants.
The Snakeskin armor has other rather pleasant sake-related benefits early in the game: when worn, it grants notable effects on (empty) jars picked up (a chance they'll be filled with sake), or when a jar is thrown, it explodes on impact into a toxic cloud.
Sake is essential to certain quests and objectives in the game. Some missions must even be completed with Atsu in a drunken state...
