Pokémon Pokopia: the “Scales for Feebas” event (August 13-28) and how to get Milotic

A week after the arrival of Bubblebottom and version 2.0, Pokémon Pokopia has announced its next limited-time event: "Scales for Feebas", from August 13, 2026, 5:00 AM to August 28, 2026, 4:59 AM.

And there's one thing many players are going to miss, because logic would suggest otherwise: the event doesn't take place in Bubblebottom, nor on the Cloud Islands. Feebas is a Water-type Pokémon, the underwater city just opened, and yet you'll have to look elsewhere. This guide tells you exactly where, and what you need to have done before August 13.

Where to find Feebas: in front of a rebuilt Pokémon Center

This is the only location rule, and it's very simple: Feebas appears in front of any rebuilt Pokémon Center.

Two important consequences:

• You need at least one rebuilt Pokémon Center to take part. If you don't have any, the event is simply inaccessible to you.
• The region doesn't matter. Any rebuilt Center works, whether it's in Terrassec, Grisemer, Collinangle, the Flotîles-Millefeux, or Ville-Nouvelle.

What you need to do before August 13

If you haven't rebuilt any Pokémon Center yet, that's your absolute priority this week. You have seven days. It's the only entry requirement for the event, and it's a hard gate.

If you already have one or more Centers standing, there's nothing to prepare on the access side. Use the week to clear out some space: you're going to receive furniture.

Why the event isn't in Bubblebottom

This is the twist worth pointing out, because intuition pulls in exactly the opposite direction.

Bubblebottom — part 1 of the expansion pass, released on August 5, 2026 — is an underwater city inspired by Cerulean City. It brings 50 new Pokémon and 36 new habitats. Since Feebas is a Water-type Pokémon, everyone expected the event to take place there.

That's not the case. Neither Bubblebottom nor the Cloud Islands host the event. This is actually good news for accessibility: "Scales for Feebas" is open to all players, including those who haven't bought the expansion pass. The Pokémon Company deliberately placed the event on base game content.

Prism Scales: the event loop

The process is straightforward:

1. You interact with Feebas in front of a rebuilt Pokémon Center.
2. It asks you to collect Prism Scales for the duration of the event.
3. You exchange your Prism Scales for rewards, including swimming-themed furniture.

Vocabulary note: the Prism Scale is the official English name for the French "Bel'Écaille". You may sometimes see it referred to differently on third-party sites — this is the official Pokédex term.

In the main series, the Water Scale is precisely the item that evolves Marill into Azumarill. So this isn't an incidental item choice: it's a deliberate nod to one of the trickiest evolutions in Pokémon history.

How to get Azumarill

This is where Pokopia applies its own logic, very different from that of the main games. In Pokopia, you don't make a Pokémon evolve: you set up a habitat that suits it, and it comes to settle there.

The swimming-themed furniture obtained in exchange for your Water Scales serves exactly this purpose: putting together a habitat in which Marill and Azumarill feel at home. By arranging this furniture correctly, you can attract Azumarill — Marill's particularly elegant evolution.

A crucial point for your planning: Marill and Azumarill can be moved into a house or habitat after the event ends. So you're not obligated to finish setting everything up within the August 13-28 window.

What's time-limited is collecting the Water Scales and exchanging them for the furniture. The decorating can wait. Focus your two weeks on accumulating scales and trading them in — the aesthetic arrangement can be done at leisure in September.

The context: what version 2.0 brought on August 5

The free 2.0.0 update arrived on August 5, alongside part 1 of the expansion pass. Its major addition is Dive, a field move learned from Manaphy, which unlocks underwater building — and this even without purchasing the pass.

To learn Dive, you need to know the move Surf and have completed the environmental level upgrade quest in Grisemer — the same one that gates access to Fonds-Bulleux, "A More Pleasant Environment".

Update 2.0.0 also adds new items, emotes, hair colors, and a series of adjustments to the behavior of assistant Pokémon — which had until now been a bit too temperamental.

If you also want to access Bubblefloat Basin

This isn't necessary for the Barpau event, but it's worth knowing. You'll need:

• the "A More Pleasant Environment" request from Grisemer;
• the two field moves Dip (learned from Magikarp) and Dive (from Manaphy).

Once there, Otaquin greets you. You'll come across Gobou, Loupio, Lanturn, and Staross — the Staross plush leading to Dream Island. Bubblefloat Basin also introduces floating blocks, bubble machines, smoothies, and watermelon farming at the bottom of the ocean (which requires a Pokémon specialized in watering, then a Pokémon specialized in fertilizing).

The pass purchase bonus

Purchasing the expansion pass gives you the "Ditto Galore" motif — a method for crafting blocks and wallpaper — as well as 30 rare Poké Metal ingots. The conditions: purchase before August 31, 2027, code valid until September 30, 2027, to be redeemed via Mystery Gifts.

What's next for the expansion pass

• Part 2: late 2026. It will bring accessories for Pokémon, but no new town.
• Part 3: 2027, with a new area that hasn't been named yet.

Your plan until August 13

1. Rebuild at least one Pokémon Center. This is the sole and mandatory requirement for accessing the event. You have one week.
2. Don't look for Marill at Fond-Bulleux or on the Cloud Islands. It appears in front of rebuilt Pokémon Centers, in the base content.
3. Make some room. Swimming-themed furniture is coming in large quantities.
4. Focus the 15 days on collecting Pearl Scales and trading. That's the only part that's actually time-limited.
5. Leave the decorating for later. Marill and Azumarill can be moved into a house or habitat even after the event ends.
6. If you don't have Dive yet, learn it from Manaphy: it's free with 2.0.0, no pass required.

A free event, accessible without the expansion pass, with themed furniture and one of the most elegant Pokémon from the third generation at the end of it: it's shaping up to be a good couple of weeks ahead for Pokopia. Provided you have a Pokémon Center standing before the 13th.
