In brief

Paralives update 0.1.7 extends lifespan from 98 to 112 days and fixes a critical bug that slowed down time after 70 days — two changes that finally make long-term, multigenerational play viable. The rest of the patch brings welcome quality-of-life improvements: food storage, bed assignment, streamlined social relationships, and finally cute Parababies.

Paralives Studio released patch 0.1.7 on August 10, 2026, followed the same day by the 0.1.7b hotfix and then, the next day, by 0.1.7c. The team presents it as a quality-of-life update. That's true on the surface — but two lines in these patch notes change the way you play a family over the long term, and they deserve more than a quick glance.

112 days instead of 98: why this isn't a minor detail

The lifespan rebalancing is the most structural element of 0.1.7. The studio has lengthened the adult life stages and shortened everything before adolescence. The result: average lifespan goes from 98 to 112 days.

The justification given by the team is very concrete, and it says a lot about what was broken before: an elderly Para who has a baby must now be able to live long enough that the child isn't taken away by social services when they die. In other words, playing out a late-life stage wasn't just a minor detail — it could cost you a household member.

What this changes for you, in practice:

  • Multigenerational playthroughs become viable. Before, the timeline was too tight to smoothly chain inheritances together.
  • Childhood stages are shorter. If your enjoyment of the game comes from raising little ones, you'll feel the difference in the other direction.
  • Career pacing changes mechanically. With more adult days, it becomes realistic to level up a Para in several of the eleven career fields instead of picking one and sticking with it.

The time-slowdown bug past 70 days is fixed

This is the other major fix, and it had been long awaited. The game suffered from a progressive slowdown of time past roughly 70 days of play, to the point of breaking the game loop in long playthroughs. The known workaround was to tweak the minutes-per-second ratio in the Storyteller settings.

The official patch notes leave no room for doubt: time speed now remains constant even past 70 days. Combined with the extended lifespan, this is what finally makes a save file playable over dozens of hours viable. If you had abandoned a household because of this slowdown, now's the time to reopen it.

The additions that save you time day to day

The rest of 0.1.7 is pure quality-of-life, but a few points are worth a closer look:

  • Food storage in refrigerators. Dishes no longer spoil prematurely, and it's now possible to prepare a meal the night before for the next morning.
  • Information when hovering over a dish: the game now displays its quality and its time before expiration. This is what makes the previous point actually usable.
  • Bed assignment. Paras can be assigned to a specific bed and will go to sleep there on their own. No more nighttime shuffling in crowded households.
  • Coffee becomes functional. Coffee machines used to be purely decorative; drinking a coffee now ignores the need for sleep for two hours, at the cost of draining the bladder need. To be used for a busy morning, not as a permanent substitute for sleep.
  • Street addresses in Melino. The town finally has street names and numbers, which makes managing multiple lots easier.
  • Prices shown in the inventory. An addition designed for artist and collector playstyles: an object's value is displayed on hover or selection.
  • Filters in the Parasculptor for searching clothing and hairstyles, plus five new patterns.

Relationships: what opens up and what closes down

The patch reworks several social interactions, and some fix genuinely awkward behaviors.

On the opening side: hugs are no longer reserved for romantic partners. Any Para who is a family member or has reached friendship level 3 can now be hugged. Along the same lines, starting at friendship level 3, it becomes possible to ask a friend to move in via Together cards. It's also possible to invite Paras directly to the lot being visited from the phone.

Intimacy, meanwhile, has been simplified: the studio acknowledges that the process was "sometimes convoluted." It now starts directly by clicking on a bed or on your current partner.

On the closing side, an important fix: the game now better detects family relationships. Paras no longer develop romantic feelings toward family members — grandparents, cousins, and uncles included — and any romantic action toward them is now impossible. Finally, breaking up abruptly ends the ongoing conversation and any group interaction, allowing both Paras to calm down.

Babies, and the rest of the fixes

The studio gave in on a point that generated a lot of discussion: Parababies have been redesigned to be cuter. The team writes about it with humor, admitting they had grown fond of their "anatomically biblical babies." More usefully: babies are now born in their parents' arms rather than on the sidewalk — except for twins and triplets, where one arrives in someone's arms and the others end up on the ground.

Several substantial fixes come along with all this: baby genetics now finally take the parents' faces into account, and the sliders applied carry over into subsequent life stages; deceased Paras no longer lie in the street for days on end; parents no longer abandon their children when asked to move in; and Paras no longer keep talking while asleep. The advanced move object tool is also more reliable and no longer breaks object placement on reload.

What's still broken

The studio reports two known issues to date. Mods continue to cause difficulties — an acknowledged consequence of successive early access updates, and a useful reminder before crying bug. And NPC Paras still walk through walls at the end of a conversation.

A final word on vocabulary: Paralives is translated into French, but only partially, and the studio itself admits this in its own patch notes. Several labels mentioned here — the Together cards, the Storyteller profile, the career perk cards — do not yet have a verified French equivalent in the client. We are therefore leaving them in their original language rather than offering a homemade translation that wouldn't match anything on screen.

What would change your gameplay the most in this 0.1.7 update?

Frequently asked questions

Will 0.1.7 break my ongoing families?
No. The extended lifespan applies to existing Paras, meaning your save gets extra time for free. Inheritances will simply become less stressful to manage.
Why did the studio shorten the childhood phase while extending overall lifespan?
Because previously, too many days were lost to childhood and adolescence, leaving adult life cramped. Now the balance favors careers and family stories that unfold across several generations without feeling rushed.
Do I need to restart my game for the time bug fix to take effect?
Yes, the slowdown fix only applies starting from a new game or after reloading your save once the patch is installed.
What's the deal with coffee delaying sleep?
A Para who drinks coffee ignores their need to sleep for two hours, but their need to use the bathroom shoots up. Useful for an important morning, but not something to rely on as a permanent fix for fatigue.
Will mods still work after this update?
Probably not without an update. Early access builds regularly break mods — it's a well-known pitfall with Paralives. Check with mod creators before updating if you use any.

  • Refrigerators work, beds are assigned, and intimacy can be initiated with a click — genuine everyday quality-of-life improvements.
  • Paras no longer fall in love with their cousins or grandparents, and babies are finally born in someone's arms instead of on the sidewalk.
