In brief

The Sotoyama treasure hunt in Forza Horizon 6 sends you to the north of the map to find a hidden chest at high altitude. With the right landmarks and the snowy photo clue, you'll snag the 100,000 credits in two minutes tops.

The Horizon Playlist has just been updated and winter has settled over the map of FH6. Among this week's challenges, a treasure hunt sends you to the Sotoyama region, all the way to the north of the map. The chest isn't easy to spot at first glance, but with the right landmarks, it's sorted in two minutes.

Where is the chest located in the Sotoyama region?

The game gives you two clues: the chest is somewhere in the Sotoyama region, and a photo shows mountains, a chalet, and snow-covered fir trees. Not exactly precise.

The key is altitude. Head to the very north of the map and climb one of the highest roads in the area. The chest is positioned up high, in that snowy alpine setting that the photo gave you as your only clue. Once you're there, the reward is straightforward: 100,000 credits, to spend however you like.

The other challenges in this week's Horizon Playlist

The treasure hunt is only part of the lineup. Here's what the Playlist offers for the winter period:

  • Weekly trials: to be completed behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR TM Edition 2001.
  • Photo challenge: capture "a rally monster from the 2000s".
  • Hokobu time trial: to be done with an S1 from the 2000s.
  • Tateyama Kurobe speed zone: same deal, S1 from the 2000s required.

Rewards up for grabs

By completing the weekly trials, you can unlock the Forza Link "You're a monster" as well as several cars:

  • Audi RS 4 2006
  • Acura Integra
  • Ferrari 430 S
  • Honda S2000
  • Mégane R26.R

As for the seasonal rewards, two American pickups are on offer: the Dodge Ram SRT-10 2006 and the Ford F-150 SVT Lightning 200. Not to mention the usual prize draws scattered throughout the Playlist.

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is the Sotoyama chest located?
At the north of the map, up high on one of the region's highest roads. The clue photo shows a snowy alpine setting: mountains, a chalet, pine trees. That's your cue to go up, not down.
How long does it take to find this chest?
Two minutes if you know Sotoyama's altitude. Without landmarks, you might drive around a bit, but once you're told to "head north and up," it's over quickly.
What's the reward for this treasure hunt?
100,000 credits, to spend however you like. Enough to buy yourself a nice car or some upgrades without much delay.
Are there other challenges this week in the Playlist?
Yes. Weekly trials in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, a photo challenge on 2000s rally monsters, time trials, and speed zones. Rewards include cars like the Audi RS 4, the Ferrari 430 S, and the Honda S2000.

Key takeaways

  • The chest is hidden up high in the snowy mountains of northern Sotoyama, not down at the bottom of the region.
  • The clue photo shows pine trees and a snowy chalet: it's pure alpine, so look up in altitude.
  • 100,000 credits up for grabs, a straightforward reward with no hassle.
