EA Sports FC 26: the 3,000-coin cap doesn't cover the Pre-Season store — start with Paralluelo at 200 coins

The Pre-Season token store, opened on Thursday, August 13, 2026 with Season 10, has been summed up almost everywhere as four bundles that 3,000 tokens would let you grab in one go. The price list says the opposite: the catalogue counts twenty-six bundles and weighs in at 11,735 tokens, nearly four times the cap. There's nothing to "complete" here, there are trade-offs to make.

The two headline items pushed by EA cost 2,200 tokens between them: FUTTIES ICON Didier Drogba (99) is 2,000 tokens, FUTTIES Salma Paralluelo (97) just 200 tokens. Taking both leaves only 800 tokens, far short of the 1,500 required by the two headline Evolutions.

And the most urgent item isn't the most expensive one: six bundles close as early as Friday, August 21 at 4:59pm UTC, i.e. 6:59pm in Paris, Paralluelo included. A 97-rated FUTTIES for 200 tokens is the best value in the entire store. That's the one to start with, and you've got four days left.

The real catalogue: six players, five Evolutions and fifteen packs, for 11,735 tokens

The official Season 10 page announces tokens redeemable for "Player Items, Packs, and Evolutions" and presents Drogba and Paralluelo as part of the first offers, not as the entire catalogue. Here are the prices recorded this Monday, August 17, 2026.

On top of that come fifteen packs, ranging from 10 tokens to 1,000 tokens for the "1 of 4 ICON Player Pick Encore 95+". Total: 11,735 tokens.

Note the right-hand column: the store filled up in two waves. The bundles from Thursday, August 13 last until Wednesday, September 30; those that arrived on Friday, August 14 with FUTTIES Team 4 close on Friday. Those six only cost 800 tokens in total, while Drogba will wait for you until the end of September.

A word on the cap. EA only writes that the limit "has gone from 1,000 to 3,000", without specifying over what period; fut.gg documents it as a weekly cap reset every Thursday at 07:00 UTC, which is reinforced by the store opening on a Thursday at 07:00 UTC. Absent explicit confirmation from EA, treat this as likely, not certain: either way, 3,000 tokens won't buy the whole store.

The buying order: Paralluelo at 200 tokens, then Carpet Football at 500, then Va Va Voom at 1,000

1. Paralluelo, 200 tokens. A fifteenth of the cap for a 97-rated FUTTIES card, with a deadline on Friday. It's the least questionable purchase in the store, and the one you miss when you lump Paralluelo in with Drogba under the convenient label "the players": between the two, there's a tenfold difference.

2. Carpet Football, 500 tokens. The best Evolution of the bunch for the price paid, with no position requirement. It runs until September 30th, but there's no reason to wait: the benefit kicks in from the very next match.

3. Va Va Voom, 1,000 tokens. A third of the cap, and only if you have a candidate outside of centre-back, since the Evolution excludes CBs.

Drogba only comes into the equation afterwards: at 2,000 tokens, he eats up two-thirds of the cap and costs more than the three previous items combined (1,700 tokens). He's only worth considering once you've gathered 3,000 tokens, and at the cost of everything else. He's not the only one at that price, either — Rio Ferdinand and Cafu, also rated 99, cost 2,000 tokens each: the choice comes down to which position your lineup is missing.

Carpet Football returns 560 stat points for 500 tokens, Va Va Voom 400 for 1,000

The comparison you see everywhere pits each Evolution's headline bonus against the other: +40 pace for Va Va Voom, +40 passing for Carpet Football. It's worthless. Each one hands out around fifteen bonuses spread across four tiers, and reducing them to a single stat is like judging a team by its goalkeeper alone.

The right metric is the total distributed. According to fut.gg's count, Carpet Football grants +560 combined stat points, Va Va Voom +400. Per price paid: 112 points per 100 tokens versus 40. The gap isn't simply double, as the single-stat comparison suggests — it's closer to triple, and it favors the cheaper of the two.

Two caveats: each bonus is capped stat by stat, so a card already at 94 in ball control won't actually receive the displayed +30, and a point of positioning isn't worth a point of sliding tackle. A raw total remains a blunt measure, but it doesn't leave anything out. Everything else points the same way: four matches with no win required on both sides, "easy" difficulty in both cases, and Carpet Football is the only one of the five Evolutions with no position requirement.

"Maximum overall rating: 97" is an entry requirement, not the final rating

This is the costliest misreading of these two Evolutions, and it leads people to rule out the best candidates. The requirements for both Va Va Voom and Carpet Football list a maximum overall rating (OVR) of 97: your card won't stop at 97, it must be at or below 97 to be eligible. The first tier then grants +30 overall rating, capped at 98.

So don't go looking for "a candidate with room to spare": a card sitting exactly at 97 is eligible, receives every bonus in full, and comes out at 98. It's cards already at 98 that are excluded, not the ones right at the threshold.

The six token sources, as listed by EA

Pre-Season tokens can't be bought: not with coins, not with FC Points, and no pack contains them. EA lists six channels, and nothing else: Division Rivals, Squad Battles, FUT Champions, Rush, SBCs, and Season 10's Season Points. The publisher doesn't rank them and doesn't publish any amounts: we're sticking to the list as given.

The Evolution names have no official published French wording

Useful heads-up before you open the Evolutions tab: we found no official English name for Va Va Voom, Carpet Football, Class On Grass, Pocket Inspector or Creative License. Look for them under their English title, as with the store, labelled "Pre-Season Token Store" by the publisher. On the other hand, FUTTIES and Pre-Season are deliberately kept in English in the French version of the game: these are not translation oversights.

The calendar dictating your decisions

• Friday, August 21, 2026, 4:59 PM UTC — closure of the six cheap bundles, including Paralluelo, at the same time as FUTTIES. We've laid out what to do with your coins before this date.
• Friday, September 18, 2026 — early access to FC 27 for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus edition owners. Your real deadline: four and a half weeks from today, not five and a half.
• Friday, September 25, 2026 — standard release of FC 27.
• Wednesday, September 30, 2026 — closure of the last store bundles.

One last point, on the two systems that share the same term "Pre-Season": the Season 10 rewards that aren't claimed in FC 26 and carry over into FC 27 are a separate mechanism. Your token balance, on the other hand, is spent here — and part of what it lets you buy disappears on Friday.
