Diablo 4 Season 14: The 3 Paladin Builds That Still Hold Up — And Why the Class Has Neither S Tier nor A Tier
In brief
Diablo 4 Season 14's Paladin is stuck in Tier B with no S or A build at high level, but three builds hold up perfectly well: Blessed Hammer on Disciple for perpetual dodging, Divine Spear on Fanatic for offensive mobility, and Vindictive Shield on Juggernaut for close-range thorns. The class levels up admirably, but beyond that, the ceiling becomes visible.
Seven classes out of eight have had their build guide on playnews.gg between July 17 and August 8. The eighth, the Paladin, had nothing — and it's the trickiest to cover. As of July 22, 2026, the last update to JudgeHype's high-level tier list, the class has no build in Tier S or Tier A: its best lineup starts at Tier B, with Divine Lance, Shield of Vindication, Blessed Hammer, and Shock.
This tier list remains the reference as of this Sunday, August 16: patch 3.1.3, announced on August 7 and rolled out the week of the 10th, contains no class balancing, and its summary mentions Druids, Necromancers, and Demonists but not the Paladin.
A correction, while we're at it: Lord of Hatred, released on April 28, 2026, added two classes, the Demonist and the Paladin — our August 8 guide said "the class" in the singular. The former runs on Wrath and Domination, the latter on Faith and Oaths — but neither has an S or A build.
The resource is called Faith, and the Oath rewrites an entire family of skills
Hailing from the Western Realms, the Paladin is played with sword and shield. Its resource is displayed as "Faith points", and comes back on helms under the affix "Faith Regeneration". Its skill tree has six categories — basic, core, aura, valor, judgment, ultimate — and only three auras: Aura of Fanaticism, Aura of Defiance, Aura of Sacred Light.
The real choice is the Oath: a contract that rewrites an entire family of skills.
- Fanatic Oath: fanatic skills grant fervor, and their critical hits replay the attack, once per stack. At maximum fervor, a fortify is added.
- Juggernaut Oath: it consumes determination stacks to increase the damage and size of juggernaut skills, and determination is no longer consumed when taking damage.
- Judge Oath: basic skills apply Judgment, judge skills trigger the Judgment explosion early, and each judged target stacks increases to damage taken.
- Disciple Oath: a disciple skill on cooldown grants arbiter form, under which these skills hit harder; winged strikes benefit from it too.
Their numerical values are hidden behind rank variables: we won't cite any of them.
July 22 tier list: high-level play starts at Tier B, leveling starts at Tier S
| Tier | High level | Leveling |
|---|---|---|
| S | empty | Shield of Vindication |
| A | empty | Blessed Hammer |
| B | Divine Lance, Shield of Vindication, Blessed Hammer, Shock | Zeal, Judgment |
| C | Zeal, Wield, Shield Bash, Auras | empty |
| D | Zenith, Judgment | — |
The hierarchy flips: the Paladin levels a character wonderfully, and it's in the Pit and the Tower that its ceiling shows.
Blessed Hammer / Disciple: the Disciple's Halo turns spinning hammers into a mobile tornado
The most documented build of the class; JudgeHype guide updated on July 5, 2026. Disciple Oath, Ultimate Arbiter of Justice upgraded to Seraphine Wings. Its centerpiece, the Halo of Disciple, makes the hammers follow instead of spinning in place. With the Silver Veil ring, which casts the skill on its own, and the boots affix "Attacks reduce Evade's cooldown", it's played by chaining Evades.
- Skills: Blessed Hammer 15/15 (Damage Bonus, Casting Speed), Fanaticism Aura (Resource Generation, Rite of Humility), Defiance Aura (Healing Bonus, Rite of Prayer), Aegis 5/15 (Unwavering Resolve), Falling Star 1/15.
- Uniques: Lucion's Crown, Fists of Fate, Ring of the Starless Skies, Herald's Morgenstern, Berú of the Revealed Light, and the Godslayer's Crown while waiting for something better.
- Aspects: Aspect of Supreme Glory, Protective Aspect, Aspect of the Rampart, Zephyr's Aspect of the Arbiter, Aspect of Deflected Force, Aspect of Disciple, Aspect of Ascension, Aspect of Heavenly Strife.
- Talismans and runes: Griswold's Work seal, Linta, Mlor, Fer and Phoba charms of the Revealed Light; Igni, Gar, Cem, Que runes — Igni grants 10% critical strike chance, another one the Druid's Earthen Bulwark.
- Boards and glyphs: Spirit at the start, then Beacon, Cunning, Shield Bearer, Apostle, Relentlessness, Fortress, Arbiter.
The survival goal is explicit: 100% block chance, via a skill leveled up to at least rank 5 — a threshold that the source itself considers "very difficult" to reach this season. Acknowledged weaknesses: low regeneration, dependence on Barriers, permanent movement.

Holy Bolt / Fanatic: everything starts with Light's Reprimand and Fortify
Guide updated on July 3, 2026. Fanatic Oath, Ultimate Fortress 15/15 (Unstoppable, Determination Damage Bonus, Barricade). The signature skill is Holy Bolt 15/15 with the Zealous Joust upgrade, which shifts it from Disciple to Fanatic, converts it to Physical damage, and adds a dash to it. Around it: Fanaticism Aura 15/15, Defiance Aura 15/15, Holy Light Aura and Falling Star 1/15, Rallying Cry 1/15.
The engine is Fortify: the Fanatic Oath hands out huge amounts of it, and the Berú of Valiant Faith set relaunches Rallying Cry for free every 6 seconds. The central unique is Light's Reprimand, the core of any Holy Bolt build; followed by Fists of Fate — useful only in mythic form —, Tibault's Will and the Ring of the Starless Skies, to offset the skill's considerable resource consumption.
Aspects: Revelation, Glynn's Anvil, Redirected Force, Prohibition, Fanatic's Concordat. Charms Linta, Berú, Mlor, Fer and Phoba of Valiant Faith, seal Bloodthirsty Idol. Runes: Igni and Jah for mobility, Moni and Gar for 10% critical strike chance. Limits: cooldown dependency, weak area damage.
One caveat: the reference French-language page for this build is half in English (Fortress, Divine Lance, Rally…). Every label above has been cross-checked against the class page, which is fully translated.
Shield of Vindication / Juggernaut: a "ranged" Thorns build that's played stuck to the target
The main skill is Divine Shield, which the upgrade Shield of Vindication converts into the Juggernaut skill by reducing its range: classified as ranged on paper, played in melee in practice. The rest: Shock 15/15 (Decision, Crusader Strike Efficiency, Blame), Divine Shield 1/15, Aura of Fanaticism 15/15 with the Rite of Vengeance, Aura of Defiance 15/15 with the Rite of Thorns, Blame 4/15, ultimate Fortress 15/15 (Free Use, Rampart of Thorns).
The rotation is a three-step process: Shock to activate Blame and generate Determination, Divine Shield three times while stuck to the target, then any skill to maintain Protection of the White Dove — Dodge counts as a skill. Uniques: Protection of the White Dove, Cloak of the Gray, Ring of Starless Skies. Aspects: Atonement, Almighty, Redirected Force, Glynn's Anvil, Prohibition, Lapa's Writings, Juggernaut's Concordat. Drawbacks: short range, low survivability, immobility during damage phases.
All three builds share the same mercenaries: Raheir as the engaged mercenary (Valor, Ground Stomp, Raheir's Aegis, Bastion, Inspiration) and Aldkin as the support (Field of Languor).
There's about a month left to level up this Paladin
Season 14, "Awakening of the Dead", launched on June 30, 2026 at 7 p.m. Paris time, is expected to end around September 15. Let's be clear: this date is a community projection drawn from the in-game timer, never confirmed by Blizzard. The Season 15 date is no more certain, as the publisher has held back content for BlizzCon on September 12 and 13.
So, about a month to level up a seasonal Paladin and push through the Pit and the Tower. Since the season has no seasonal power, everything hinges on Pandemonium Breaches and 3.0 mythic uniques, whose unique powers are boosted by 30%. If you're aiming for the Fists of Fate, it's their mythic version you'll need to look for.
