Clash Royale: Giant Skeleton free until October 5 — 81 pieces, including 7 legendaries at 0.8%
In brief
Supercell is offering the Giant Gargoyle for free during the My Life as a Gargoyle event, running from September 7 to October 5, 2026. With 81 pieces to unlock and only three guaranteed daily rewards, our simulations show you'll need to supplement with about ten pieces purchased or earned from events to complete the album.
Supercell is opening the new Clash Royale season on Monday, September 7, 2026, called Gargoyle Academy, and is slipping in a brand-new card: the Giant Gargoyle. The English-language season notes are explicit about how to get it: "You can unlock this new card for free during the My Life as a Gargoyle album event." They are just as clear about what happens if you miss the window: "as with previous releases, Giant Gargoyle cards will only be available in chests starting from the next season."
The window is therefore unique, and it's short: My Life as a Gargoyle runs "from September 7 to October 5," that is twenty-nine days counting both end dates. Supercell does not publish any switchover time; the notes carry a timestamp of September 7 at noon Finnish time, which corresponds to 11 a.m. in Paris — this is our conversion, not an indication from the publisher. The event is restricted to players who have reached Arena 3.
It remains to be seen what "for free" means once translated into matches played. The English-language portal "All About Drop Rates" details, piece by piece, the composition of the album. We went through it.
What the album pays out, and under what condition
The reward is spelled out in black and white: "Complete the album to uncover the Giant Gargoyle's story and earn 1,750 Giant Gargoyle cards in total, plus an emote and a tower skin!" The notes do not say either to what level these 1,750 copies allow the card to be upgraded, or how the payout is spread across the scenes. Caution is therefore advised if you stop partway through.
The fuel, on the other hand, is described precisely: "Pieces can be common, rare, epic, or legendary, and you can find them in battle rewards (up to 3 per day), during events, or in the shop." Three sources, only one of which flows every day and without paying: battle rewards, capped at three pieces.
81 pieces, 9 scenes: what the odds table reveals
The odds portal publishes a table titled "Unique Piece Drop Rate by Scene." It lists the pieces by ranges, from number 1 to number 81, spread across nine scenes: First Day, Toxic Timing, Cafeteria Filth, Library Bullies, Paw Strike, Educational Nap, Ice Karma, Efficient Erasing, and School Boss. Nine scenes of exactly nine pieces each. The right-hand column adds up the published probabilities for the nine pieces of each scene: this is our addition, the publisher only provides the individual breakdown.
| Scene | Pieces | Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary | Weight in a draw |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| First Day | 1 to 9 | 9 | — | — | — | 57.9% |
| Toxic Timing | 10 to 18 | 8 | 1 | — | — | 24.4% |
| Cafeteria Filth | 19 to 27 | 7 | 1 | 1 | — | 10.3% |
| Library Bullies | 28 to 36 | 6 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 4.34% |
| Paw Strike | 37 to 45 | 5 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1.83% |
| Educational Nap | 46 to 54 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 0.77% |
| Ice Karma | 55 to 63 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0.32% |
| Efficient Erasing | 64 to 72 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 0.14% |
| School Boss | 73 to 81 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 0.054% |
Two lessons emerge from this. Within a single scene, all the pieces carry the same weight regardless of their rarity: rarity only determines the progress granted by a duplicate. And the slope is brutal — the first scene accounts for 57.9% of pulls, the last for 0.054%, roughly a thousand times less. Premier jour will keep coming up on repeat while Boss du bahut stays blank.
The rarity breakdown published by the publisher confirms the imbalance: 91.9% commons, 5.1% rares, 2.1% epics, and 0.8% legendaries. Seven pieces out of 81 are legendary, and between the seven of them they share less than one percent of pulls.

The duplicate bar: four points, and a single epic duplicate fills it
A piece you already own becomes a duplicate, and "every duplicate is added to a progress bar toward a unique piece, based on its rarity level." When it fills up, "you will automatically receive a unique piece," and "any excess progress points are kept." The season notes give the capacity of this bar — "You can trade 4 duplicates for a unique piece" — then publish the scale by rarity.
| Rarity of the duplicated piece | Duplicates credited | Share of the bar filled |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 3 | 75% |
| Rare | 3 | 75% |
| Epic | 4 | 100% |
| Legendary | 4 | 100% |
Comparing the two pages gives a clear reading: the bar requires four points, a common or rare duplicate contributes three, an epic or legendary duplicate contributes four. A single epic duplicate therefore triggers a unique piece; two common duplicates also trigger it, leaving two points to spare. The third column is our own conversion, the publisher does not present things this way.
Here's the counterintuitive part: duplicates aren't a loss, they're the main engine for unlocking pieces. A unique piece "guarantees you get 1 new piece (if your album isn't complete)", and it's drawn from whatever you're still missing.
Three pieces a day: our simulation stops at 75 out of 81
Twenty-nine days in the window, three pieces daily at most: 87 pieces in total for an album that requires 81. On paper the numbers work out; in practice they don't, since almost all of these pulls land on pieces you already own.
One factor works in your favor: "During the final week of the event, all pieces from daily rewards will be unique pieces." Supercell doesn't give a date for this final week; we place it from September 29 to October 5, 2026, meaning 21 guaranteed unique pieces and 66 random pulls before them.
We ran this scenario twenty thousand times against the official probabilities, counting only battle rewards, without a single piece bought or won in an event. Median result: 54 pieces out of 81 by September 28, then 75 out of 81 by October 5. None of the twenty thousand simulated runs complete the album; six pieces are missing in half the cases, seven in a third. Out of 66 random draws, about forty duplicates, seventeen new pieces drawn directly, and around thirty unique pieces handed out by the progress bar: two thirds of the album come from duplicates, not lucky draws.
This is our simulation, not data from the publisher, and it rests on two assumptions that Supercell does not confirm: that battle rewards pay out random pieces outside the final week, and that this week does indeed last seven days. The conclusion doesn't change: you'll need about ten pieces from events or the shop over the month. In our tests, ten is enough to finish in 99% of cases. That's not a huge amount, it's not zero either, and that's exactly where the operation's commercial margin sits.
The French page is a month ahead of the English one
A detail worth knowing if you go check for yourself. As of Sunday, September 6, 2026, the French-language rates portal displays the section "Piece Drop Rates in My Life as a Giant Gargoyle (September 2026)", while the same page in English was still showing the rates for the July album, under the title "Wandering Warrior Snippet Drop Chances (July 2026)". We were unable to find the French-language label for that July album: the French-language page had already replaced it.
| Piece rarity | July 2026 album | My Life as a Gargoyle |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 86.6% | 91.9% |
| Rare | 7.4% | 5.1% |
| Epic | 4.1% | 2.1% |
| Legendary | 1.9% | 0.8% |
Legendary pieces drop from 1.9% to 0.8%, a decrease of more than half; epics lose half their weight, rares a third, and commons pick up all of it. At an identical pace of play, the September album is therefore mechanically longer to finish than the July one — the publisher offers no comment on this change. The event's name isn't stable either: the patch notes write "My Life as a Gargoyle", while the drop rates table says "My Life as a Giant Gargoyle".
In practice
The steps to follow come down to three points. Reach arena 3, without which the event won't open. Collect the three daily pieces every day starting from Monday, September 7, 2026: every skipped day costs three draws out of the 87 available, and no catch-up mechanism has been announced. Finally, keep an eye on the pieces distributed through events and offered in the shop, since that's where the last six or seven will come from.
The date to remember is Monday, October 5, 2026: after that, the card goes back into the regular chest rotation, and only starting from the following season. The album can be completed without spending, but only for those who don't miss a single day.
