In brief

Bombanana! demands strict cooperation between three disabled monkeys to defuse bombs. Level 1 plunges you into a colored wire module where each one must play their role: the deaf one announces the color, the mute consults their module and nods to validate, the blind one cuts the correct wire.

In Bombanana!, you play as three funny monkeys tasked with defusing a bomb before the timer runs out. The twist: each one suffers from a different handicap, and only pinpoint communication will get you through. The full version features 30 levels of increasing difficulty (plus an Endless mode), but it all starts with a wire module. Here's how to clear level 1.

The concept: three complementary roles

The three monkeys are split as follows: the deaf one sees and speaks, but can't hear; the mute one sees and hears, but can only nod; the blind one only makes out a silhouette and is in charge of cutting. None of them can solve the puzzle alone.

Level 1: the wire module

You come across a bomb fitted with three or four wires, each a different color. The deaf one looks at the color of the indicator light and announces it out loud, also specifying the number of wires.

The mute one then checks their module to determine which wire to cut. Here's the cheat sheet to follow depending on the number of wires:

Three wires

Indicator light color Wire to cut
Green Yellow
Red Blue
Yellow Red
Blue Green

Four wires

Indicator light color Wire to cut
Green Red
Red Green
Yellow Blue
Blue Yellow

Watch out: sometimes a module will display a different diagram. In that case, the mute one must follow what their own module shows, but the solving method stays the same.

The right way to communicate

Since the mute one can't speak, how do you convey the color of the wire to cut? The simplest solution: the deaf one calls out the colors one by one, and the mute one nods as soon as the right one is said. This way, the deaf one identifies the correct wire without any mistakes.

All that's left is to announce the wire's position to the blind one, who can spot its silhouette and then cut it. The bomb is defused, and level 1 is cleared.

Frequently asked questions

How can the mute indicate which wire to cut if they cannot speak?
The deaf one states the colors one by one aloud, and the mute simply nods as soon as the correct color is spoken. It's the most reliable communication for level 1.
What should I do if my module displays a different schematic than the cheat sheet?
The mute must always follow what their own module indicates, not the cheat sheet. The resolution structure remains identical, only the color-wire correspondences change.
What is the blind monkey's exact role in the wire module?
The blind one can only make out the shapes of the wires and is responsible for cutting them. They receive the position of the correct wire announced by the deaf one and execute the action.
Is there a difficulty difference between three and four wires at level 1?
Four wires mean four color-wire correspondences instead of three, so slightly more combinations to memorize. The method remains strictly identical.

Key takeaways

  • The three monkeys have no chance alone: only precise communication between deaf, mute, and blind allows defusal.
  • Level 1 relies on a simple correspondence between the sighted monkey's color and the wire to cut (three or four possible wires).
  • The enumeration technique allows the mute to silently confirm the correct color: the deaf one pronounces each shade one by one until a nod.
