In brief

Black Flag Resynced features 22 treasure maps to track down across the Caribbean, plus 3 more via the Treasure Dealer. Each map leads to a buried chest with its own reward, but beware: you must first pick up the map and add it to your codex before you can dig. This guide compiles all coordinates, locations, and loot, split between the north and south of the map.

Treasure maps in Black Flag Resynced are available as soon as you freely explore the Caribbean - but some require having progressed through the campaign or having built infrastructure at Great Inagua. Good news: none are permanently missable. A few depend on a high wanted level, and the last one is locked behind Sequence 09 (access to Principe). In total: 22 buried chests to dig up, plus 3 additional ones via the treasure trader.

Crucial point to remember

You can only dig at a location once the corresponding map has been logged in your codex. Don't show up empty-handed - coordinates alone aren't enough to recover the treasures. That would have been too good to be true!

North Caribbean treasure maps

Ten maps cover the northern half of the map. The order below follows a geographic progression logic, not the codex's numerical order - you'll save a fair amount of time by following this route rather than going back and forth from one end to the other.

  • Great Inagua (813,448) - Head up from the docks, climb the ledges, enter the overhanging tunnel. Chest: Nassau (586,755), behind the manor, near a rock and a tree. Reward: Premium sail plan + 3,000 reales.
  • Mariguana Island (847,514) - Central rock formation, look for the vines hiding a crevice. Chest: Andreas Island (544,693), small islet with three coconut trees. Reward: Ultimate Harpoon plan + 3,000 reales.
  • Salt Lagoon (723,608) - Corpse washed up on the beach. Chest: New Bone (407,94), islet with four coconut trees near the Jackdaw's landing spot. Reward: Maize Deity + 2,500 reales.
  • Nassau warehouse (593,750) - Find the warehouse key and loot it. Chest: Isla Providencia (487,11), under a tree to the left of the wreck. Reward: Governor's outfit + 2,000 reales.
  • Abaco Island (581,804) - On the beach, in a grove of trees. Chest: Salt Lagoon (719,607), under a large rock along the coast. Reward: Snake-shaped figurehead plan + 3,000 reales.
  • Andreas Island (543,693) - Next to the rotting wreck at the edge of the camp. Chest: Abaco Island (586,811), near a cluster of trees to the left of a wreck. Reward: Earth Monster Relief + 2,500 reales.
  • Havana (217,571) - Corpse thrown into a canal. Chest: Havana (213,564), in the south of the city, against the coastal fortifications. Reward: Queen Anne's figurehead plan + 3,000 reales.
  • Havana warehouse (205,600) - Warehouse northwest of Havana. Chest: Anotto Bay (590,245), next to a stack of crates near the cave exit. Note: Anotto Bay is also the location of the Blackbeard's treasure. Reward: Crimson cape + 4,000 reales.
  • Cape Bonavista (161,585) - Campaign starting area. Climb onto the village rooftops to the southeast, the tunnel leads to the Mayan Stelae. Chest: Cape Bonavista (146,587), in a tunnel at the bottom of a natural pool. Reward: 1,500 reales.
  • Pinos Isle (308,456) - On a corpse in the ruins guarded by Spanish soldiers. Chest: Cayman Sound (304,310), in the center of a grove in the northeast of the island. Reward: 4,000 reales.

South Caribbean treasure maps

Twelve maps in the southern half. The last one - Port Royal towards Principe - is locked behind Sequence 09. No point rushing there before being prompted by the main storyline, you'd just waste time at sea.

  • Corozal (11,242) - Near a pot at the camp entrance. Chest: Ambergris Key (30,157), dive down, pass through the underwater tunnels, surface in the cave, look for the dead end. Reward: Pirate Captain outfit + 2,000 reales.
  • Ambergris Key (28,160) - On the central platform, upper level. Chest: Misteriosa (271,178), mound to the right of the snake fountain. Reward: Ultimate powerful shot plan + 3,000 reales.
  • Santanillas (191,218) - Climb the trees to the hilltop, skeleton on the ground. Chest: San Juan (455,462), pass through the underwater tunnel, on the surface look on the side of the wheelbarrow ramp. Reward: Ultimate fire barrel plan + 3,000 reales.

The treasure trader and restored maps

The treasure trader unlocks at your Great Inagua hideout after building the General Store and the Tavern, then spending an additional 5,000 reales on the shop itself. It's a substantial investment, but the rewards are well worth it - the three restored chests are by far the most profitable in the entire game. It allows you to restore three types of damaged maps in exchange for resources and reales. To stock up on tobacco, sugar, and rum, loot enemy cargo ships or send your brigs on piracy missions.

  • Restored and preserved map - 4 pieces to steal from warehouses (Havana, Cat Island, Matanzas, and others). Cost: 150 tobacco + 500 reales. Chest: Sacrifice Island (14,554), under two connected rocks in the north of the island. Reward: Robes of Shadow and Silence (legendary outfit) + Wooden Eye (legendary trinket - your quick pistol shots instantly kill brutes).
  • Restored damaged map - 3 pieces recovered from the captain's chests of pirate hunter frigates and ships of the line. These ships only appear from a certain wanted level onward: raise this level by destroying enemy vessels. Cost: 200 sugar + 500 reales. Chest: Florida (381,803), in front of the lone skeleton near the wreck. Reward: Golden sails (legendary sails) + Elite wheel (rare wheel) + Refined crew outfit (rare crew outfit).
  • Restored synthesized map - 2 pieces obtained by skinning white jaguars. Reliable spawn in the Great Inagua jungle (825,439): cross the wild boar area, continue toward the swamps. The jaguar respawns after one in-game day if you leave the area. Cost: 200 barrels of rum + 500 reales. Chest: Santanillas (188,215), in the central courtyard - follow the river under the ruins to the niche. Reward: Hunter's outfit (rare outfit) + Hunter's Amulet (rare trinket - reduces animal detection range).

The Wooden Eye deserves special attention. This trinket radically changes the approach to ground combat against brutes: one well-placed quick shot and it's done, where previously it took several combo hits or special techniques. Don't overlook it - it's probably the best item in the game for ground combat.

Frequently asked questions

Can I permanently miss a treasure map?
No, none of them are missable. However, some require you to have progressed well into the campaign or to have built infrastructure at Great Inagua. Most are accessible as soon as you explore freely.
Why can't I dig at the spot shown by the coordinates?
Because the map isn't in your codex yet. You first need to find the map itself (usually on a corpse) and collect it. Once it's added to your inventory, you can dig at the chest's location.
How do I unlock the Treasure Dealer and restore maps?
First build the General Store and the Tavern at Great Inagua, then spend an additional 5,000 reales to open the Treasure Dealer's shop. You can then restore three types of damaged maps in exchange for resources (tobacco, sugar, rum) and reales.
How many treasure maps are there in total?
22 maps to find across the Caribbean (10 in the north, 12 in the south) plus 3 accessible via the Treasure Dealer after restoration, for a total of 25.
Which map is the hardest to access?
Port Royal → Príncipe. It stays completely locked until Sequence 09 of the main campaign. No point rushing there before the story invites you to.

Key takeaways

  • You can only dig once the corresponding map has been logged in your codex — coordinates alone aren't enough.
  • 10 maps in the north, 12 in the south, plus 3 restorable at the Treasure Dealer after building their shop at Great Inagua.
  • The last map (Port Royal → Príncipe) stays locked until Sequence 09 of the main campaign.
  • Rewards include figurehead blueprints, exclusive outfits, overpowered armaments, and up to 4,000 reales per chest.
  • The Treasure Dealer's damaged maps cost resources (tobacco, sugar, rum) and reales, but grant access to bonus locations like Sacrifice Island.
