Animus Keys AC Black Flag Resynced: How to Farm Them
In brief
Animus Keys are the cosmetic currency in Black Flag Resynced, and you can stack them up quickly through a free promo code, story progression, Edward's Challenges, Dark Animus quests, and above all the weekly Anomalies. We show you every source and how to make the most of them to unlock Altaïr's, Ezio's, and Connor's legendary outfits.
Animus Keys are the secondary currency of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the one you can't buy with real money. To unlock the legendary outfits of Altaïr, Ezio, or Connor in the Animus Hub, you'll have to earn them. Good news: sources are plentiful, and some can be harvested in just a few minutes flat.
Promo code: 1,500 free keys, right now
Before doing anything else, go to the official Ubisoft code redemption page and enter the code ACBF-PHGN-SYBJ-RTRF. You instantly receive 1,500 Animus Keys as well as the Crimson Storm sails for the Jackdaw. If your Ubisoft account isn't linked yet, do so during the process - it's mandatory for the reward to appear in-game.
Note
This is literally the fastest thing in the guide. No reason to skip it.
Story progression: claim what's owed to you
Every advance through the main sequences of Black Flag Resynced generates keys. If you're already well into the game, there's a good chance Animus Keys are waiting for you in the Synchronization tab of the Animus Hub, unclaimed. Open this menu, go to the Edward tab, and go through the available rewards. That's money left on the table.

Edward Challenges: structured farming
Still in the Edward tab of the Synchronization menu, you'll find a list of challenges to complete - upgrading the Jackdaw, looting 10 chests from shipwrecks, etc. These objectives can be followed and tracked from the menu, which makes it easy to organize your play sessions around them. This is probably the most consistent method for accumulating keys over time, without depending on a weekly respawn.
Animus Rifts quests: paid narrative content (in Keys)
The Animus Rifts are a series of four brand-new missions exploring alternate scenarios around Edward Kenway - a kind of "What If?" that gradually opens up as the main story progresses. They reward keys upon completion, and they bring genuine bonus narrative content. The table below summarizes their location and unlock condition.
| Dark Animus Quest | Location & Coordinates | Unlock Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Rebel Souls | Great Inagua (825, 429) | After Sequence 4 |
| Wayward Desires | Island north of Nassau (604, 784) | After Sequence 8 |
| Lost Spirits | Sacrifice Island (14, 559) | After Sequence 11 |
| True Purpose | East of Misteriosa (363, 176) | Epilogue |
Map collectibles: 30 Keys per pickup
While exploring the cities and islands, you'll come across keys to pick up directly in the open world. Each collectible is worth 30 keys. It's not massive on its own, but it adds up quickly if you're the type to explore everything. To target only these pickups without searching blindly, open the map legend and filter by "Keys" - they'll then display clearly and can be tracked individually.

Anomaly Quests and Animus Projects: the most profitable system
This is where it gets interesting. In the Projects tab of the Animus Hub, three distinct projects are available, each with its own reward track filled with keys. To progress through these tracks, you need Data Files, and these are obtained by completing Anomaly quests.
These quests appear on the map via a diamond-shaped icon. The objectives vary: eliminate corrupted enemies, sink a convoy, neutralize a local threat. They're handled quickly, and that's where the real farming rhythm lies.
Warning
Anomalies respawn every Wednesday. Plan your sessions accordingly so you don't miss a cycle.
To view the available Anomalies, head to the Projects tab of the Animus Hub then select "Anomalies".
What are Animus Keys used for?
It all happens in the Exchange tab of the Animus Hub. There you'll find legendary outfits from other games in the franchise - notably Altair's, Ezio's, and Connor's outfits - as well as weapons with powerful perks and cosmetics for the Jackdaw, including exclusive sails. These are purely cosmetic, prestige rewards with no impact on Edward's base power, but clearly designed for fans of the franchise.
