In brief

Modern Warfare 4 is landing in open beta on Switch 2 on Friday, August 28 at 7pm. On the menu: cross-play multiplayer, a campaign mission and Warzone on the new Zodiac map, with a few free cosmetics to mark the occasion.

It's the moment Nintendo players have been waiting for: Switch 2 joins the open beta for Modern Warfare 4 this Friday, August 28, at 5:00 pm UTC — 7:00 pm CEST, the same time as other platforms, with cross-play and shared progression.

Pre-loading has been open since Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00 pm, via the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 - Beta" listing on the Nintendo eShop. No pre-order or code required, but you'll need an Activision account and a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for online multiplayer. The download size hasn't been announced.

On the menu: multiplayer, the campaign mission "Entrenched", and Warzone's Resurgence mode on the new Zodiac map — not the classic battle royale. On the hardware side, gyroscope and mouse support for the Joy-Con 2, Pro Controller, HDR, and handheld play.

Over the weekend, a selection from the Vault Edition is being offered free to all Switch 2 players: Hostile Alliance and Special Forces operator packs, and five signature weapon blueprints. It closes on Tuesday, September 1 at 7:00 pm, after a first weekend that saw its player base drop off on Steam.
