CD PROJEKT RED has finally given a release window for The Witcher IV: it will be 2028. Michał Nowakowski, Joint CEO of the studio, said so on August 24 in a video message.
« The Witcher IV is targeting a 2028 release window », he states, without giving a precise date. More than 500 developers are working on this saga carried by Ciri, presented as the studio's most ambitious game.
As for purchasing, there is nothing: no edition, no price, no pre-order. The official page is limited to two buttons, the Game Awards 2024 trailer and the June 2025 technical demo. The platforms remain undetailed.
2028 pushes back by a year the publisher's previous position, which ruled out 2026 and was targeting 2027 at the earliest. Until then: Songs of the Past, the expansion for The Witcher 3, releases in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Its first full preview opens Opening Night Live this Tuesday, August 25 at 8:00 PM Paris time. The Witcher IV, meanwhile, will not be shown at gamescom.
