In brief

CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed September 29, 2026 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The upgrade is free for current owners of the game, except on Switch 2 where it will be paid, and the two major expansions become free for everyone.

CD PROJEKT RED has given a date for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered: Tuesday, September 29, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Several French-speaking outlets wrote "September 19": the studio's official press release does say 29.

Nothing to buy, or almost

On PC and current-generation consoles, the remaster is a free upgrade — the term used on the French Steam page — for anyone who already owns the game. The only exception is the Nintendo Switch 2 version, native and new, which remains a standalone purchase, pre-orders open.

Another gesture, effective right now: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, the two original expansions, are being given free to all owners of the game. The French version keeps their English titles.

What the remaster changes

Visuals and performance, combat, movement, new effects for the Signs, mount handling, monster behavior, a reworked skill tree with transmogrification, an expanded photo mode and new finishing attacks. The project is co-developed with the Hungarian studio Yigsoft.

What comes next

The paid expansion Songs of the Past, meanwhile, is announced for 2027.
