In brief

Sony is permanently shutting down access to inFAMOUS 2's user-generated content on August 31, 2026. As a result, four trophies tied to these features become impossible to unlock, putting the platinum out of reach for anyone who hasn't already earned them. The single-player campaign remains playable, but fifteen years of community creations will disappear with no archive.

Sony has confirmed it on its official page for online-enabled game support: online support for inFAMOUS 2's user-generated content (UGC) features on PlayStation 3 ends on August 31, 2026. inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood falls the same day.

Single-player isn't affected: the campaign and offline features remain playable, the publisher states in black and white. It's the player-created missions that disappear — no more browsing them, downloading them, uploading them, or playing them afterward.

Four trophies, and the platinum with them

Four trophies become unreachable. Their official English names, per the PSN list:

  • Level Up — create a mission with the UGC editor.
  • UGC Curious — play 10 user-generated missions.
  • UGC Veteran — play 25 user-generated missions.
  • Trail Blazer — play 5 missions under the "Newest" filter.

Without them, no platinum for those who don't already have it. The most efficient order comes in two steps: create and publish a mission in the editor, done in one go; then launch five missions via the "Newest" filter and keep going until twenty-five. Those twenty-five playthroughs cover all three tiers.

What goes down with the servers

In late July 2011, the PlayStation Blog counted more than 50,000 published missions and 4.8 million playthroughs of them. Fifteen years of community creations, with no archive announced. The same Sony page lists dozens of other PS3 and PSP titles already shut down. You have five days left.

Did you still have user-generated content to unlock in inFAMOUS 2?

Frequently asked questions

Can I still get the platinum after August 31, 2026?
No, it's impossible. Four trophies essential for the platinum — Content Creator, UGC Curious, UGC Veteran, and UGC Pioneer — depend on user-generated content. Without access to these servers, they become permanently out of reach.
What happens to the rest of the game?
The single-player campaign and all offline features remain fully playable. Only player-created missions and the sharing services disappear.
What's the fastest way to unlock these four trophies?
Create and publish a mission using the content editor. Then launch five missions via the "Most Recent" filter and keep going until you reach twenty-five playthroughs: these twenty-five missions alone cover the three other required trophies.
Is there a backup of player creations?
No, no archive has been announced. Fifteen years of community missions — more than 50,000 creations and 4.8 million playthroughs — will simply disappear.

  • inFAMOUS 2's single-player campaign remains playable offline; only the user-generated content is being removed
  • A five-day window remains to unlock these four trophies before the servers shut down
