Capcom sculpts Leon Kennedy for Resident Evil's 30th anniversary

Leon S. Kennedy is finally about to exist in three dimensions, off-screen. Capcom has commissioned a life-size statue of the hero for its anniversary exhibition, and the news alone was enough to electrify part of the Internet.

The expo celebrating Resident Evil's 30th anniversary will run from October 30 to December 24, 2026 at the Shibuya BEAM Gallery in Tokyo. Tickets have been on sale since August 3, though the full layout of the exhibition remains unclear on several attractions still marked "coming soon". The Leon statue will take its place in the "Memories of Those Who Stood Against Them" section, dedicated to the saga's heroes and their evolution from their debut to recent installments. Across the way, the "Evidence of Horror" gallery will display life-size models of iconic creatures and villains, while a screening room will show iconic scenes to get visitors in the mood before they enter.

Kennedy thus joins Capcom's growing collection of statues that already populate the company's offices and stores, alongside Ryu mid-Hadouken or the Palico from Monster Hunter Wilds. But his case is drawing particularly strong reactions from the community, between jokes about a future museum heist and warnings about the need for more "do not touch" signs. A sign, too, of fans' almost irrational attachment to this character.

This exhibition comes at a pivotal moment for the franchise, buoyed by the success of Requiem and anticipation around the Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake. Enough to turn Shibuya into a must-visit stop for any fan passing through Tokyo this winter.
