The co-op mode

The co-op mode of Subnautica 2 allows up to four players to experience a shared adventure. Accessible right from the title screen, you can choose to create a world or join friends.

To start, you have the option to Host a multiplayer game, which involves managing a world you've created yourself. You can invite your friends using their unique friend code, or by selecting them directly from your friends list.

If joining an existing world appeals to you more, the solution is simple: add a friend via their friend code, then once the request is accepted, simply click on their name in your friends list to access their world.

Co-op world features

The co-op mode of Subnautica 2 is very flexible, players are free to come and go from the world as they please. A new player can easily join an ongoing game, and they aren't required to return to the starting point.

One of the fundamental aspects of the co-op mode is that the inventory is shared. All items stored in lockers are accessible to everyone, unlike the items each player carries in their personal inventory, which remains private access.

Base building is a key element of the game, with each player able to join forces to create impressive structures. Everyone can also build their own base, where resources and items are pooled together.
