In brief

The RIP Knife is an essential melee weapon for Grace in Resident Evil 9 Requiem, allowing her to harvest more Infected Blood from defeated enemies. Find out how to obtain it at the Treatment Center, its characteristics, and how to optimize it with the best charms to dominate Nightmare mode.

In Resident Evil 9 Requiem, the RIP Knife is an essential melee weapon for Grace, which helps gather more Infected Blood from defeated enemies. We'll explain here how to acquire this tool, its specifics and its usefulness.

RIP Knife Characteristics

The RIP Knife, unlike other weapons, doesn't give Infected Blood with every attack. But defeating zombies drops more Infected Blood, which is very useful for surviving in Nightmare mode...

While the knife is sturdy, it will eventually break after a certain number of uses. It's therefore essential to plan its use carefully, and repair it often.

Note

Due to the lack of ammunition in Nightmare mode, the RIP Knife becomes an essential item for any player who wants to optimize their progress.

How to Get the RIP Knife

When playing as Grace, you need to go to the Healing Center. Once at the Visiting Room, you'll see the Antique Coin Cabinet, which gives different rewards depending on the game mode. In Nightmare mode, the RIP Knife is obtained with five Antique Coins.

A second RIP Knife can be found at the very south of the Waiting Room, right next to the coin cabinet in the East wing. To get it, you'll need the Level 1 Bracelet, which can be found near the Head Researcher's Office.

It's essential to unlock the RIP Knife's crafting recipe. In the same Locker where you found the knife, a Blood Sample (Polymerized) also awaits you. You need to retrieve it and have it analyzed at the Blood Analysis Lab in order to unlock the recipe.

Upgrades and Charms

To optimize the RIP Knife, it's recommended to pair it with Charms:

  • Snack Charm: This one is found in the kitchen pantry of the west wing of the Healing Center. It improves your knife's durability and damage. It's an essential item if you plan to use the RIP Knife frequently.
  • Matsuoka User Manual: Don't forget to pick it up when shopping in the Special Content tab for 6 Antique Coins: it boosts the Blood Collector's capabilities by 50, which is crucial for resource management in Nightmare mode.
