Pokémon Champions: August 2026 calendar — gifts to claim, Season M-5, Monthly Challenge and Worlds

Three free distributions are coming to an end in the next few days on Pokémon Champions, and two of them disappear for good on August 31, 2026. If you've installed the game without ever opening your inbox, a Dragonite and 300 Speed-Up Tickets are still sitting there. Once the date passes, they won't come back.

The rest of the month is just as packed. Ranked Battle Season M-5 kicked off on August 5 and runs until September 9, complete with its battle pass. The August Monthly Challenge takes place from the 21st to the 24th. And the Pokémon World Championships are setting up in San Francisco from August 28 to 30: these are the first in history to run the Video Game division on Pokémon Champions rather than on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Here's the full calendar for the month, with dates and times verified against official announcements, along with the order in which to tackle everything so nothing slips through.

The expiring gifts: 300 Speed-Up Tickets and two Pokémon

None of these three bundles require a gift code or a purchase. Everything arrives in the inbox accessible from the main menu, and you just need to have launched the game at least once during the period to be eligible.

The combined 300 Speed-Up Tickets aren't a token gift. At the Ranch, recruitment resets every 22 hours, and each hour removed from the timer costs 1 Speed-Up Ticket or 100 Victory Points (VP). In other words, 300 tickets represent roughly thirteen recruitment cycles skipped — enough to seriously expand your roster before the end of Season M-5, or enough to save 30,000 VP that you'll keep for stat training.

One thing not to mix up: the official announcement for the launch bonus only mentions Dragonite and the 100 Speed-Up Tickets. Dragonite's Mega Stone isn't guaranteed in this package — check the shop if you're planning to Mega Evolve the dragon in ranked battles.

The Raichu bundle, meanwhile, is the only one that carries over into September, though just barely. It includes both Mega Stones: Raichunite X grants access to Mega Raichu X and its ability Surge Surfer (electrifies the field for five turns, boosts Electric-type moves by 30%, and grants sleep immunity to grounded Pokémon), while Raichunite Y unlocks Mega Raichu Y and Mold Breaker, which makes every move used by or against it bypass Abilities that would block it. Two radically different playstyles for a free Pokémon: there's no reason to pass this up.

Ranked Battle Season M-5: the real start is August 12

Season M-5 runs from Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 2:00 AM UTC (4:00 AM Paris time) to Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 1:59 AM UTC (3:59 AM Paris time). It's therefore already a day ahead as you read these lines, but the main event hasn't started yet.

As with every season, the leaderboard, Champion rank, and levels 1 to 3 of Master Ball rank aren't open from the start: they arrive on the morning of Wednesday, August 12, a week after launch. In practical terms, points earned before that date only help you climb up to Master Ball 4, not beyond.

The rank structure remains unchanged: Poké Ball, Great Ball and Ultra Ball are each divided into four tiers and are climbed using a win gauge — consecutive win streaks fill it faster. From Master Ball onward, the gauge gives way to a rating, and your tier depends on your position in the world rankings.

The tactical takeaway is simple: the first week, from August 5 to 12, is the ideal window to test out exotic teams without risking your rating, since you can't go above Master Ball 4 anyway. Nothing is lost either, since you never drop below a tier you've already reached. From August 12 onward, however, every defeat costs you in the rankings — it's better to show up with a stabilized roster.

The M-5 Battle Pass: what you actually get

The Battle Pass follows the exact same window as the ranked season, from August 5 to September 9, 2026. It's leveled up by accumulating Seasonal Battle Score (SBS) points, earned by battling — including when you lose, with the match outcome only affecting how much you gain.

The free track delivers this season Spiritomb and its Spiritombite, 48 Speed-Up Tickets, 4 Permanent Recruitment Tickets, 4 Training Tickets and 10,000 Battle Points. This is the most interesting reward set for a player still building up their pool: the Permanent Recruitment Tickets turn a trial into a permanent acquisition, and 10,000 BP covers a good chunk of a team's training.

The premium track, priced at €9.99 for the season, adds Tauros and Guzzlord along with Taurosite and Guzzlordite, the Corviknight outfit, 6 additional Permanent Recruitment Tickets and 9 Training Tickets. Watch the calendar: each pass is confined to its own season and nothing carries over, so a late purchase only pays off if you play enough before September 9.

Don't confuse this with the game's two other paid offerings: the €6.99 Starter Pack and the subscription at €4.99 per month or €49.99 per year, which increases Storage Box space and the number of Battle Teams but does not speed up Battle Pass progression.

August 2026 Monthly Challenge: registration on the 14th, battles from the 21st to the 24th

The August Monthly Challenge (MCS) is the month's official competition, and it takes place in two stages. Registration opens on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 02:00 UTC (04:00 in Paris) and remains open until Monday, August 24 at 01:59 UTC. The battle period, meanwhile, only begins on Friday, August 21 at 02:00 UTC and closes at the same time, Monday, August 24 at 01:59 UTC (03:59 in Paris).

Format used: Single Battle, under M-B regulations. This is the same rule set as the current ranked season, which avoids having to build a second team: your ranked roster can be reused directly.

The participation reward only requires three matches played, regardless of outcome. It includes an Alolan Raichu, 100 Speed Coupons, and the Outsider title (MCS 08/2026). Three matches for 100 extra coupons is the best time-to-reward ratio of the month — even if you're not playing the competition seriously, sign up and knock out three games.

Placements then unlock additional titles: Ace for the top 10, Venerable from 11th to 100th place, Top from 101st to 1,000th, and Rising from 1,001st to 10,000th, all suffixed "MCS 08/2026".

The World Championships from August 28 to 30: why it matters to you

The 2026 Pokémon World Championships take place from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30 in San Francisco, with the preliminary rounds at the Moscone Center and Sunday's final at the Chase Center. The PokémonXP convention runs alongside it, in an edition marking the franchise's 30th anniversary.

The point that changes everything for the competitive community: the Video Game division is now played on Pokémon Champions. This is the culmination of the transition that began in spring 2026, when Play! Pokémon competitions moved away from Scarlet and Violet. In other words, the team you face on the ladder runs on the same client as the one that will be played at the world championship.

The practical consequences are immediate. First, the end of August traditionally sees the best players concentrated on the ladder as they sharpen their preparation: expect a noticeably tougher queue between August 20 and 28. Second, the Worlds team lists are published and broadcast: the last three days of the month are the best window of the year to grab ready-made compositions and get ahead of September's meta. Finally, the M-5 season doesn't end until September 9, leaving a full week to replay on the ladder what was seen on stage.

The order to tackle things in

If you were to do only one thing today: open your inbox and clear it out. The 300 Speed Coupons and the Dragonite won't survive past August 31, and they're the only rewards this month that don't depend on any performance.

Next, use the August 6–11 window to test things out with no consequences: the Master Ball 4 cap protects you until the ladder opens on the 12th. Sign up for the Monthly Challenge as early as the 14th so you don't forget, set aside your three required matches between the 21st and the 24th, then keep the last week of the month free to watch the Worlds and take note of what stands out. The M-5 season will still leave you nine days to put it into practice.
