Palworld Mythical Wood: Gathering, Farming and Uses

The Mythical Wood (Mythical Wood) is the endgame wood in Palworld, exclusive to the World Tree area introduced with version 1.0. It's impossible to confuse it with regular Wood or Sturdy Wood: it can only be chopped from very specific trees, and only if you take a few precautions. This guide explains where to harvest it, how to avoid seeing it disappear, and what it's used for once it's in your inventory.

What is Mythical Wood?

Mythical Wood is described in-game as "a rare wood imbued with the power of the World Tree, which only the most experienced craftsmen know how to work." In concrete terms: it's a rare material, reserved for players who have reached endgame content, and essential for a whole range of ancient equipment and structures.

A figure to keep in mind before heading out to gather: its unit weight of 8. That's heavy - much heavier than most wood resources. Since some recipes require dozens of units, your back-and-forth trips will quickly become a burden if you don't set up solid logistics beforehand. Otherwise, it's an item with rare rarity, sellable for around 1,000 gold coins per unit, and stackable up to 9,999.

Where and how to gather Mythical Wood

Mythical Wood can't be picked up off the ground and can't be mined: you get it by chopping down the special trees found in the World Tree region, using an axe, exactly as you'd harvest regular wood elsewhere on the archipelago - but with two constraints specific to this zone.

The quality of your axe directly determines how much Mythical Wood you get per tree. The more advanced the tool, the higher the yield. Here are the tiers, from the most basic to the most efficient:

Needless to say, at this stage of the game, you'll want to use the Pal Metal Axe (Pal Metal Axe) to maximize every chop.

Holy Water is essential

This is the part many players learn the hard way: the trees of the World Tree collapse before you finish harvesting if you don't have the zone's "blessing." To avoid this, drink a World Tree Holy Water (World Tree Holy Water) before chopping. The effect temporarily stabilizes the trees and lets you harvest at your own pace.

If you'd rather save your Holy Water, the alternative is to summon a Pal with the World Tree resource preservation passive skill: its mere presence prevents the trees from disappearing, saving you from consuming a precious consumable every session.

Managing your weight

With 8 weight per unit, Mythical Wood fills up your bag at an alarming rate. Bring a Pal that increases your carrying capacity via its partner skill - transport mounts work perfectly for this - or you'll find yourself overloaded after just a few trees. Setting up a fast travel point near your chopping spot also lets you make quick trips back to a storage chest.

Alternative sources

Chopping trees remains the primary method, but two other sources supplement your supply. The Ancient Relic Recyclers can produce it: depending on the tier of relic recycled, you'll get 1 to 11 units per cycle. Additionally, exploring the World Tree itself offers Mythical Wood as loot, with a drop probability of around 18%. These sources don't replace chopping, but they're a useful way to top up your stock when you're already farming the area for other resources.

What Mythical Wood is used for

Mythical Wood is a cross-cutting endgame ingredient: it's found in both equipment and advanced structures. Here are its main uses, along with the corresponding recipes.

On the items and equipment side:

• the Ancient Sphere (Ancient Sphere), the best capture sphere in the game - recipe: 30 Paldium Fragments, 6 Paloxite Ingots and 3 Mythical Wood;
• the Winged Cell (Winged Cell), used to upgrade your glider - 10 Mythical Wood and 20 Crude Oil;
• the Explosion-Resistant Undershirt (Explosion-Resistant Undershirt), a protective armor piece - 10 Explosion-Resistant Fiber and no less than 50 Mythical Wood;
• the Mythical Wood Board (Mythical Wood Board), an advanced building material - 10 Mythical Wood, 10 Sturdy Wood and 5 Chromite.

On the structures side:

• the Skillfruit Orchard (Skillfruit Orchard), for growing your Skillfruits;
• the Ancient Farm (Ancient Farm);
• the Ancient Relic Recycler (Ancient Relic Recycler);
• the Ancient Pal Bed (Ancient Pal Bed).

It's this Mythical Wood Board that serves as the basic building block for a good part of the ancient furniture and buildings - much like the regular Wood Board does for early-game constructions. In other words, as soon as you want to build "ancient" structures, Mythical Wood shoots to the top of your shopping list.

Optimizing your harvest

The biggest trap with Mythical Wood is the Explosion-Resistant Undershirt recipe and its 50 units: at 8 weight each, that's 400 carrying capacity just for the wood. Plan ahead by building up your reserves over several sessions rather than in one single expedition. The winning combo remains the same every time: a Pal Metal Axe for yield, a preservation Pal to avoid wasting Holy Water, a carrying capacity Pal to go the distance, and a fast travel point set up right in the heart of the zone to empty your bag without wasting time. With this routine, the World Tree becomes a practically inexhaustible wood reserve.
