Palworld: guide to the fastest mounts in 1.0
In brief
Palworld 1.0 requires having a good mount to explore the new massive zones. This guide reviews the six fastest ones: Neptilius dominates the water, Necromus rules the land, while Jetragon remains the undisputed king of raw flying speed, even if Xenolord offers a better balance for everyday play.
Palworld's 1.0 update added a huge number of new areas to explore - the World Tree, the Sunreach Islands, not to mention the oceans to cross. Needless to say, traveling on foot is no longer an option: you need a good mount. But movement speed isn't the only criterion: Stamina, handling, and partner skills all matter just as much. Here are the fastest mounts in Palworld 1.0, and what each one excels at.
Neptilius - queen of the oceans
For anything related to water, Neptilius has no rival: it's the best aquatic mount in the game. Its swimming speed clearly outpaces every other marine Pal, and its leaps above the water make long crossings impressively fast. If your exploration mostly involves oceans and remote islands, it's the obvious choice.
Optimal build: King of the Waves, Sea Runner and Dimensional Leap. This trio pushes its already excellent speed even further.

Necromus - king of dry land
On land, Necromus remains one of the fastest mounts in the game. Its sprint speed is phenomenal, and its double jump lets it maintain momentum across cliffs, hills, and rough terrain. Its sharp acceleration and responsive handling also make it one of the most enjoyable mounts to ride.
Since the Legend passive is innate to it, it's easy to prepare for racing. Fastest build: Legend, Runner, Swift and Dimensional Leap - the latter offering a bigger speed boost than Rider.
Panthalus - unlimited stamina
Despite its colossal size, Panthalus moves much faster than you'd expect. More importantly, unlike most flying mounts, it can stay airborne for extremely long stretches without worrying about stamina: ideal for continuous exploration. Recommended build: Runner, Rider, Swift and Dimensional Leap.
Eidrolon - the best all-rounder
Eidrolon offers one of the best trade-offs between speed, stamina, and utility. Its partner skill is unique: it increases both movement speed and attack power depending on the number of Dragon or Dark type Pals in your party. By filling your team with compatible Pals, Eidrolon rivals the best flyers. Its quick climbs and dives also make getting around mountains and the World Tree easier. Build: Dimensional Leap, Runner, Rider and Swift.

Xenolord - speed and versatility
Xenolord's flight speed is only slightly lower than Jetragon's, but it makes up for it with much better stamina and more comfortable handling. It also moves efficiently on the ground, and you can use your own weapons while riding it. Its partner skill adds a mounted speed bonus and increases the damage of armed Pals. Many experienced players actually prefer it over Jetragon: the slight speed loss is more than made up for by its sturdiness and versatility. Build: Dimensional Leap, Runner, Rider and Swift.
Jetragon - pure speed
Even after 1.0, Jetragon remains at the top for raw flight speed. Nothing in Palworld can match it over long distances: if crossing the map as fast as possible is your only priority, it remains the undisputed champion. Maximum build: Legend, Runner, Rider and Dimensional Leap.
Watch out for its drawbacks, though: its stamina is lower than Xenolord's, and you can't freely fire your weapons while riding it, since it automatically triggers its missile attacks. Even so, no mount beats it on a straight line from one end of the map to the other.
