Palworld Crude Oil: how to get it easily

The Crude Oil becomes an essential resource in the mid-game in Palworld: without a steady supply, it's impossible to craft the first late-game items. There are three ways to get some: setting up pumps, hunting Kikit, and looting airdrops. By far the most efficient is the first, even though it's also the most demanding.

Method 1: the Crude Oil Extractor (the best)

The Crude Oil Extractor extracts oil passively, making it the most profitable source in the long run. Its recipe unlocks at level 50 in the tech tree, and then requires:

• 250 Paldium Alloy Ingots
• 50 Circuit Boards

These two components require a bit of preparation. The Paldium Alloy Ingot is obtained by combining Ore, Pure Quartz, and Paldium Fragment in an Electric Furnace or higher. The Circuit Board, meanwhile, is crafted from Polymer and Pure Quartz at the Production Assembly Line.

For Pure Quartz, head to the Astral Mountains in the northeast: smash the quartz deposits there to harvest it.

Once the extractor is built, locate a crude oil deposit on the map and set up a base there. Above all, remember to power the extractor with electricity - it's very power-hungry - by assigning it a Pal with a high Electricity Generation work suitability.

Method 2: hunting Kikit

The Kikit, these Pals that look like armadillos, are found on the sandbar south of Sakurajima. They drop Crude Oil when defeated. This is a viable method, but active and tedious: you need to keep hunting continuously. Save it for cases where you need a small amount right away.

Note

You can technically breed Kikit at your base to slaughter them, but it's barely worth the effort: the extractor remains far more efficient for continuous production. If you're going to kill Kikit anyway, you might as well skip the breeding step - and possibly increase the Pal appearance rate in your World Settings.

Method 3: supply drops

Most Supply Drops contain a few units of Crude Oil, very easy to pick up. Their spawn frequency can even be adjusted in the World Settings. However, this isn't a reliable source: think of them more as small bonuses to grab along your explorations, rather than a real means of supply.

For a steady, effortless flow of Crude Oil, as you've gathered, go for Crude Oil Extractors: it's the investment that pays off over time. Keep hunting Kikit and looting Supply Drops as backup solutions, for when you need a quick top-up. Once your extractors are set up and well powered, you'll never run short of oil for your advanced crafting again.
