Palworld 1.0 Grand Prince: complete passive guide

Grand Prince is one of those passives that many players overlook or misunderstand because its description isn't the most explicit. No complex prerequisites to benefit from it, but it's a Rainbow passive (tier 3+), hence rare by nature. The stakes: maximizing what you get from your Pals when you kill or capture them.

What Grand Prince actually does

Simple on paper: if a Pal has this passive, you get 100% extra drops when you kill or capture it. That applies to regular combat, but also to butchering - doubled loot, period.

What the passive doesn't do, however: nothing in active combat, nothing at the base. A Pal with Grand Prince working at your camp earns you exactly as much as one without it. The only use is at slaughter or capture - and even then, if you kill a Pal in combat without inspecting it beforehand, you'll never know if it had it. The passive only reveals itself by checking the info sheet of a captured or bred Pal.

Logical consequence

If you come across a Pal with Grand Prince and have no better use for it, butcher it. That's the only way to profit from it.

How to get Grand Prince

No shortcut here. Unlike other passives, Grand Prince cannot be transferred via Pal Implants. The only method is capture - and hoping luck is on your side. This also applies to Pals obtained through fishing and breeding.

Since it's a high-tier passive, it will be rare. But once you have two copies, things get interesting.

Breeding Farm: the method to get plenty of them

If you're lucky enough to capture two Pals with Grand Prince, place them in a Breeding Farm. Offspring have a chance to inherit their parents' passives. To maximize this transmission, use Special Cakes, unlocked at level 74: they directly increase the probability that offspring will inherit parental passives.

With this mechanic, you can build up a stock of Pals with Grand Prince, then slaughter them as needed depending on your material requirements.

Gobfins: the early game spot to know

Gobfins' Turf, a sub-region of the forest biome, is one of the best spots to farm Pals with Grand Prince and its little brother Service-Minded. Gobfins are plentiful there and relatively easy to capture.

To optimize your run:

• Stock up on as many Spheres as possible before heading out.
• Bring a Wispaw: it boosts your capture rate.
• Spend a few minutes capturing Gobfins back to back.
• Keep the ones with Service-Minded or Grand Prince, sell the rest to a Pal merchant to top up your gold.

One caveat though: farming Gobfins for Grand Prince only makes sense if you need their specific drops, or if you need them for a precise breeding combination.

Service-Minded: the more accessible plan B

If Grand Prince stays out of reach, Service-Minded is its lower-tier equivalent. This passive only boosts drops by 50% instead of 100%, but it's much more common. With two Pals carrying Service-Minded, you can set up a breeding + slaughter chain at your base without relying on luck as much as with its big brother. Less effective, but far more realistic to set up early in a playthrough.
