Marvel Rivals: the Encore coupon recharges after every purchase — how to chain the -20% discounts in the Infinity Saga tab from August 28 to September 11

In brief

NetEase is rolling out a game-changing coupon mechanic: for two weeks, every purchase in the Infinity Saga tab (MCU costumes) automatically generates a new -20% coupon. The result: chaining purchases together means stacking discounts, but only if you're going for multiple bundles.

NetEase has published the patch notes for 20260827 of Marvel Rivals, rolled out on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 09:00 UTC — that is, 11:00 a.m. CEST — without server downtime.

The essential point isn't in the fixes, which are minor. It's in a shop mechanic that NetEase describes in three lines and which changes the way skins are bought for two weeks: a discount coupon that regenerates every time it's used.

The Infinity Saga tab, and the exact window

To accompany the release of Avengers: Endgame Encore from Marvel Studios, the shop is getting a limited-time Infinity Saga tab, which brings together in one place all the costume bundles from films already released.

Tab and event openingAugust 28, 02:00August 28, 04:00
Event closingSeptember 11, 09:00September 11, 11:00

The tab therefore appears the day after the patch, not on the same day. A player logging in on the evening of the 27th won't see it yet.

The Encore Coupon: the rule that matters

NetEase writes it as follows:

“During the event, all players will receive an Encore Coupon. Apply it to your purchases in the Infinity Saga tab to get a 20% discount. […] After using an Encore Coupon on an eligible purchase, you immediately receive another identical coupon. Keep the streak going and apply your bonus coupons to your subsequent purchases of MCU-themed costume bundles.”

Three practical consequences:

  • The discount isn't single-use. It replays as long as you keep buying in the tab.
  • It doesn't stack: it's 20% per purchase, not 20% then 40%. The streak reissues the same coupon.
  • It's locked to the tab. Nothing indicates that the coupon applies to the rest of the shop — NetEase only mentions “purchases in the Infinity Saga tab” and “MCU-themed costume bundles”.

The takeaway is simple: if you were planning to get two or more MCU bundles, doing so between August 28 and September 11 means 20% off each one. If you only wanted one, the discount doesn't change the calculation — the next coupon will be of no use.

This week's shop

Four entries, all opening on August 28 at 02:00 UTC — only one of which is time-limited:

BundleAvailability
Peni Parker – Liquid Shell BundleFrom August 28, 02:00 UTC to September 25, 02:00 UTC
Angela – Queen of Hel BundleFrom August 28, 02:00 UTC
Squirrel Girl – Acorn Divinity BundleFrom August 28, 02:00 UTC
Squirrel Girl – Acorn Divinity Emoji BundleFrom August 28, 02:00 UTC

These four bundles are new releases: they don't fall under the Infinity Saga tab, which only contains MCU bundles already released. The Encore Coupon therefore doesn't apply to them.

The five fixes, including one that affected balance

Four of the five fixes are cosmetic. The fifth is not, and it's the only one that could have skewed a match:

  • Doctor Strange, shield — an unintended issue allowed, with the team-up ability Psionic Vortex, to instantly restore the maximum value of the Shield of the Seraphim while its enhanced effect was active. It was a free recharge of a Vanguard's shield: the fix closes that door.
  • Angela — visual effects displayed incorrectly after she was defeated while Odin's team-up ability, Unacknowledged, was in use.
  • Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange — the preview video for their team-up ability wasn't playing correctly.
  • Cloak & Dagger — fixed jagged textures on the "Sunset Shores" chroma of the Coastal Couple costume.
  • Scarlet Witch — fixed a visual effects offset on the Floral Tide emote.

No changes to hero values, no map tweaks, no new mode added: this patch is a store patch.

The math, with an example

\n\n

The coupon chain only makes sense with numbers. Let's take a player aiming for three MCU bundles already released, found in the Infinity Saga tab:

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
PurchaseCoupon appliedCoupon received afterward
1st bundleThe coupon given to everyoneAn identical coupon
2nd bundleThe coupon received from the previous purchaseAn identical coupon
3rd bundleThe coupon received from the previous purchaseAn identical coupon
\n\n

Each bundle is -20%, and the chain doesn't stop. A player who stops after the first bundle will have used only one coupon: the mechanic gives them nothing more than a standard discount.

\n\n

Two limits to keep in mind, since NetEase doesn't comment on them: the discount applies to what the store charges, not to a premium currency conversion; and there's no indication that the coupon survives the event's closure on September 11. The cautious assumption is that any unused coupon on that date is lost.

Nothing else changes

\n\n

This needs to be said to avoid false expectations: this patch contains no balance changes. No hero values reworked, no map rotation, no mode added, no new character.

\n\n

The three entries in the "Other" section are purely visual: the Scarlet Witch / Doctor Strange team-up ability preview video that wasn't playing, the jagged textures on the "Sunset Shores" chroma, and the effects offset on the Floral Tide emote.

\n\n

The only line with competitive consequences is Doctor Strange's shield, covered above. For everything else, a match played on August 26 and a match played on the 28th will play out the same way.

What needs to be decided before September 11

  1. Wait for August 28, 4:00 AM CEST: the coupon arrives with the tab opening, not with the patch on the 27th.
  2. Make a list of the MCU bundles you already wanted. The coupon series only rewards multiple purchases.
  3. Don't buy anything outside the tab hoping for the discount: NetEase explicitly limits it to the MCU costume bundles in the Infinity Saga tab.
  4. Keep in mind that the tab contains only content that has already been released — it's a discount on catch-up content, not on new items.

NetEase publishes Marvel Rivals patch notes in English only, including on the French Steam page. Hero names, costumes, and ability names are therefore reproduced exactly as the publisher writes them, without any translation on our part.

Are you going to cave and chain several MCU bundles with the Encore coupon, or is it too expensive anyway?

Frequently asked questions

Does the Encore coupon stack (20% then 40% then 60%)?
No. Every purchase gets 20%, period. The coupon regenerates for the next purchase, but the discount stays fixed at 20% per bundle, it doesn't stack.
Can this coupon be applied outside the Infinity Saga tab?
No. NetEase explicitly limits the coupon to MCU costume bundles in the Infinity Saga tab. The four new bundles this week (Peni Parker, Angela, Squirrel Girl) don't get it.
When exactly does the Infinity Saga tab open?
August 28 at 02:00 UTC, or 04:00 AM Paris time. The August 27 patch only contains the basics; the coupon arrives with the tab the next day.
I don't feel like buying three bundles, is it still worth it?
Honestly, no. If you're only going for one bundle, you'll only use one coupon. It's a standard -20% discount, nothing revolutionary. The system only pays off for buying in bulk.
What happens if I have Encore coupons left after September 11?
No official info, but the cautious assumption is that they disappear. Better to spend them before the tab closes so you don't waste them.

Key takeaways

  • The Encore coupon regenerates after each use in the Infinity Saga tab, from August 28 to September 11 — it's not just a standard one-time discount.
  • The mechanic only pays off for multiple purchases: a single bundle = a single discount, no extra gain.
  • The coupon is locked to the MCU tab, it doesn't apply to new bundles or the rest of the store.
  • The patch itself is light: just one competitive fix (Doctor Strange shield), the rest is cosmetic.
  • Unused coupons before September 11 at 11:00 AM (Paris time) are likely lost — use them before the tab closes.
