Heartopia Winter Bugs: Complete List and Locations

Unlocking winter insects in Heartopia

During the Winter Frost event, crystal butterflies are the only insects available, and to unlock them, you'll need to complete a specific quest. The first step is to speak with Naniwa, Heartopia's insect mentor. In the dialogue menu, select the Mysterious Crystal Butterfly option.

Naniwa explains that several species of butterflies have undergone frost infection, a phenomenon that has given them a beautiful icy glow and made them highly sought after. As soon as the quest is properly underway, crystal butterflies become visible in certain areas of the forest. These butterflies can be caught if your Bug Catching passion is at least level 1, though for some five-star variants, a level above 6 is required.

Tip

The advantage of crystal butterflies is that they appear in all weather and at all hours, so you don't have to wait too long for the right moment to catch them.

Crystal Green Hypolimnas Butterfly

The crystal green hypolimnas butterfly has pearly pink, icy wings, shimmering as if made of frosted glass. It can be found around the springboards located in the middle of the bamboo field. It's likely the easiest crystal variant to spot.

Crystal Blue-Green Winged Butterfly

The crystal blue-green winged butterfly is distinguished by its purple and indigo wings. This variant can be found around the lake in the Spirit Oak Forest.

Crystal Queen Alexandra's Butterfly

The Queen Alexandra's butterfly is without a doubt the most spectacular of the crystal variants. Its wings feature a bright turquoise-green base edged in black, with an icy appearance. It can be seen around the shores of Forest Lake near the Fawn Tower.

Crystal Luminescent Moth

The luminescent moth has an icy blue and cyan appearance, seeming even more frosted than all the others. This butterfly can be found around Forest Lake near the Fawn Tower.

Another deep red crystal butterfly will be unlocked starting February 14th!
