Unlike other activities, you can indulge in it while also gardening or fishing, which is why it's an excellent choice to start with. Here's how to unlock this skill, how to cook as well as possible, and how to go through all the available recipes.
How to unlock cooking in Heartopia
To access this passion, you need to be CEO level 5. At this stage, you'll receive a Passion Unlock Ticket, which can be used to start one of three possible activities: bug catching, bird watching, or cooking.
Although you can choose your leisure activity as you see fit, cooking is recommended as a first choice. Indeed, it goes hand in hand with gardening and fishing. Progressing in these three systems at once boosts advancement while also ensuring greater profits!
If you go for cooking, you'll need to meet Massimo, the NPC found in front of his café in the town center. As the culinary mentor, all you need to do is give him your Ticket to unlock this skill.
If you've already chosen another hobby at level 5, you'll be able to unlock cooking at builder levels 8 or 11.
Step-by-step cooking process in Heartopia
Once you've unlocked cooking, you'll need ingredients. Although Massimo sells a few basic products, his stock is limited. It's up to you to make the most of the culinary experience by gathering your own ingredients: vegetables grown in your garden, fish you've caught yourself, or even items found by scouring the town in search of something to harvest!
To start cooking, simply head to a stove and select a recipe from among those you know.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to randomly combine ingredients to discover new recipes...
After selecting your ingredients, all that's left to do is start preparation. A timer will appear above your stove. After a while during preparation, a spatula surrounded by a green circle with a countdown will appear on screen. You'll need to press the icon before the circle fills up, or risk ending up with a burnt dish. If you miss the timing, you'll get some Weird Food or Weird Drink.
Note
Even a salad can burn in Heartopia, so keep a close eye on your timers to ensure a good rating for all your meals!
