Halloween: The Game: how to destroy a police car in chapter 5
In brief
Chapter 5 of Halloween: The Game requires you to destroy a police car before fleeing Haddonfield as Michael. Warning: the challenge requires destroying both cars in the neighborhood and must be completed without restarting the level, or you'll have to start over from scratch.
Michael has escaped from Smith's Grove, has terrorized and slaughtered the residents of Haddonfield, and is now preparing his big escape. But before you take off, you have the chance to collect customizations by completing a few challenges from chapter 5 of Halloween: The Game. The very last one involves destroying a police car before making your escape - and, from experience, it's less simple than it seems. Here's what you need to know.
Destroy a police car before fleeing
In this level, Michael's only objective is to leave Haddonfield without being captured by Dr Loomis and the police. The neighborhood contains two police cars, one of which patrols in an attempt to locate you. Before you rush off in pursuit of them, a few points deserve some thought.
Before destroying the car
If you're aiming for the achievement/trophy that involves stalking an officer in the Wallace house, it's better to wait before destroying the car. Indeed, as soon as you destroy it, officers are called in as reinforcements, and those present in the house may move, robbing you of your chance to complete this challenge.

Also remember to get your Shape Jump so you can flee without being overwhelmed by the police. To do this, fully fill Michael's level 2 Bloodlust gauge.
Destroying the car
Once these preparations are sorted out, walk the streets to spot the two police cars. Although the challenge's description states "Destroy any police car before you escape", in our case the challenge only registered as complete after destroying both. It also didn't trigger when the level had been restarted at some point: you'll most likely need to do it from the beginning of the chapter, without restarting.
Note
If you still have to start over, go back to the main menu and reselect the level: you'll resume at the same spot, while still being able to complete the challenge.

Once you've spotted a car to sabotage, no prompt will appear to destroy it. Approach it and use your melee attack to bash it until the hood opens, the headlights turn off, and the engine starts smoking. Count on six hits with the knife equipped.
Finishing the level
With the two police cars destroyed, you should see the challenge validate as soon as you complete the level: find one of the escape routes and reach it before you get caught.

- Both police cars must be destroyed, despite what the challenge title says, and six knife hits are enough for each one
- Don't restart the level once you've started — if you need to try again, go through the main menu to keep your challenge progress
