Hades 2 Guide: The True Ending and Epilogue

After a long period of public beta, Hades 2 finally reveals its final conclusion. Players can now get their hands on the true ending of Melinoë's story in her quest against Chronos. However, the epilogue only takes place after the end credits. Here's a detailed guide to reach the true ending of Hades 2 and complete the epilogue to unlock the "Golden Age" achievement.

Unlocking the true ending

To reach the true conclusion of Hades 2, you'll need to complete several essential tasks that will require both skill and perseverance!

First step: Defeating Chronos

The first step you shouldn't miss occurs in Hades 2's story when Melinoë defeats Chronos for the first time. The Titan of Time recharges after every death, but it's essential to beat him at least once. Once you've achieved this heroic feat, Melinoë will trigger the Incantation of Time's Undoing. This spell prevents Chronos from reforming night after night, but to complete it you'll need certain resources: 5 Zodiac Sands (by defeating Chronos multiple times) and one Entropy! This somewhat rare item will require you to accomplish a feat currently deemed impossible for you at the end of the Surface path...

Second step: Facing Typhon

Once the Surface path is unlocked, you must climb to the summit of Mount Olympus to face Typhon, Father of All Monsters, who will occupy almost your entire screen during your fight against him, and who cannot actually be defeated (his health bar shatters right at the start of the fight, showing just how overwhelming his power will be throughout all your battles against him).

After the fight against Typhon, Melinoë will finally be able to unlock the Incantation of Monstrous Undoing. This ritual doesn't eliminate Typhon directly, but enchants a weapon with the power required to erase the Father of All Monsters from existence.

To perform this incantation, you'll need 4 Cataclysmic Eyes (obtained by killing Typhon) and Gigaros, Hades' own spear.

Third step: Completing the Incantation, eliminating Typhon

Note

Important point to remember: you need to defeat both Chronos and Typhon at least once each to unlock the Time's Undoing and Monstrous Undoing incantations; however, the Time's Undoing incantation cannot be finalized before completing Monstrous Undoing, which requires Melinoë to retrieve Gigaros from the Underworld path.

Defeating Chronos for the 5th time will prompt Zagreus to offer to use Gigaros to get rid of Typhon. Melinoë will send Zag to fetch Gigaros and leave it somewhere the character can find it in his present. Once again, you must defeat Chronos, which allows you to find Gigaros lying on the ground right near Zag's bed. 

Use the weapon to complete the Monstrous Undoing, then finish a Surface run and face Typhon one last time, before he is annihilated by Melinoë. As a result, 1 Entropy will join the Cataclysmic Eyes once you close the game's summary screen.

Completing the Time's Undoing

Take the Entropy back to the cauldron, along with the 5 Zodiac Sands, to complete the Incantation of Time's Undoing, which will prevent Chronos from regenerating, and now it's up to Melinoë to end the Titan of Time's reign.

Cast the Incantation of Time's Undoing to give Gigaros the power to kill the Titan. Complete one last run through the Underworld, defeat Chronos, and return to Zag's room one final time. Melinoë will also grant the Incantation of Time's Undoing to her Nephew, and tell him to kill their grandfather as he reforms in the past.

The sequence that follows this final exchange with Zagreus through the Mirror of Night is a long sequence where, against all odds, Zagreus manages to convince Chronos to abandon his vengeful uprising! Savor the final moments of the story as you witness the true ending of Hades 2 and experience the alternative to Chronos' past, which itself causes him to abandon his invasion following his judgment by the Gods.
