Genshin Impact: “Growing Aid: In the Frozen Lands” closes on August 24 — the actual requirements and what statue fragments are for
In brief
The co-op event "Growing Together: Frostbound Lands" closes on August 24 at 3:59 AM — but the actual requirements are far lower than the rumors suggest. The statue fragments you earn are only used to decorate your Serenitea Pot and your stronghold, but they'll become unobtainable after that date, and trading duplicates with other Travelers is the key to completing the collection.
The co-op exploration event "Mutual Aid, Common Growth: On the Frozen Lands" closes on August 24, 2026 at 3:59 AM. Nine days counting from this Saturday, August 15, and that's assuming you can even get into it, which isn't a given for everyone.
That's precisely the point tripping up the most Travelers since version 7.0, "The Merciless Eternal Winter," opened on August 12 at 6:00 AM. Many assume they need to have completed the entire Snezhnaya Archon Quest before touching it. That's not the case: you need Adventure Rank 20, Prologue Act 3, and a single quest from Chapter VII. Nothing more.
The real trap lies elsewhere. The event's operation objectives unlock progressively, and they don't wait for you to log in. Every day you skip is a milestone opened that you won't be able to catch up on all at once on the evening of the 23rd. So if you're only discovering the operation now, the question isn't whether you'll have enough time, but whether you'll open the event menu right now.
Level 20 and two quests are enough: no need to have finished Snezhnaya
HoYoverse lists three unlock requirements, and they're noticeably lower than what the rumor mill suggests:
- Adventure Rank 20 or higher, a threshold that nearly all active accounts have long since surpassed;
- having completed Prologue, Act 3: "Song of the Dragon and Freedom", in other words the conclusion of the game's very first storyline arc;
- having completed the quest "Gunshots in the Silent Lands", found in Chapter VII, Act 1.
The detail that changes everything for accounts behind on the story: Chapter VII, Act 2, "Nocturne of Ghosts", is not mandatory. The official announcement lists it as "recommended," which reads as a warning about story spoilers rather than an access lock. In plain terms, you can take part having only just set foot in Chapter VII, even if it means encountering some plot elements out of order.
For an account that has never yet set foot in Snezhnaya, the shortest path is therefore to blast through Chapter VII, Act 1, without detours, then come back to the event. That's the only mandatory step, and it's far shorter than the full Archon Quest.
Taking photos and combing through areas: what the event actually asks of you
The concept is deliberately light. The operation sends you to explore designated areas of Snezhnaya and complete objectives there, with the announcement specifically mentioning taking photos. The tasks highlighted by HoYoverse are therefore nothing like a power check: this is closer to a travel journal than a dungeon to optimize.
Each completed objective earns you Fervor Coupons, the event's internal currency. That's what you need to accumulate, and it's exactly what the progressive unlock caps: there's no way to farm ahead for milestones that haven't opened yet.
Hence the only survival rule that matters for a late start: log in every single day until the 24th, even for five minutes, to clear objectives as they appear. That's the rhythm this format rewards, and it's the one that forgives absences the least.
"Snowballs Galore": the challenge that unlocks coupon spending
Fervor Coupons are useless until you've cleared the "Snowballs Galore" challenge. Once that's done, they become exchangeable for Lady Catherine Statue Fragments.
These pieces aren't progression materials: they're decoration items, which are placed in the Serenitea Pot and the stronghold. Let's just say it plainly, since it's the information many people are looking for before committing to nine days of daily logins: if you never decorate your teapot and the stronghold leaves you cold, the value of this event remains essentially cosmetic. Conversely, for players who build and showcase their domains, this is a set of decorations that will no longer be obtainable after August 24th.
Duplicates can be traded between Travelers: the word "co-op" isn't just decorative
This is the point nobody is highlighting, even though it alone justifies the event's name. You will inevitably get multiple copies of the same statue piece. These duplicates aren't wasted: they can be traded with other Travelers through the Co-Op storage feature.
This calls for two habits. First, never treat a duplicate piece as a bad drop, and don't try to get rid of it. Second, your chances of completing the collection before it closes depend as much on the people around you as on your playtime: a group of friends pooling their duplicates will finish the set much faster than a solo player. If you usually play alone, this is the event where it's worth reaching out to your friends list.
Five brand-new areas to explore, and their rewards won't disappear on the 24th
Version 7.0 opened up five new regions of Snezhnaya, which form the playground for this operation:
- Volkodlak Tundra;
- Permafrost Land;
- Frostbane Peak;
- Flameflower Valley;
- White Birch Grave.
Good news for your schedule: time spent exploring these areas is never wasted. The "Cursed Frozen Lands" exploration quests grant 400 additional Primogems, and this bonus runs, separately, until November 3rd, 2026, at 2:59 PM. So there's no reason to rush into it: it's the co-op event that has a short expiration date, not the map.
The same logic applies to the Gathering Points — Melodicity Cave, Hunter's Cabin, and Korolevskiy Theater — which level up when you offer them Cryo Seals. They're part of the region's permanent content, just like the Snezhnaya Fishing Association or gathering Radiant Gyrocrystals. None of this closes on August 24th: reserve the short window for what's actually temporary.
One last note for completionists: the web event "Snezhnaya Travel Guide," which is played outside the client, runs one day longer and closes on August 25th at 11:59 PM.
The three deadlines to note before closing this tab
- August 24th, 3:59 AM: end of "Growing Together: In the Frozen Lands." This is the only date that's actually tight, and the only one requiring daily logins.
- August 25th, 11:59 PM: end of the "Snezhnaya Travel Guide" web event.
- November 3rd, 2:59 PM: end of the 400 Primogem bonus on the "Cursed Frozen Lands" exploration quests.
For the rest of this update, we've already covered separately the Exaphane Blade and its upgrade, Alyosha's build, Astral Dispersion and the Cryo Traveler, the Crimson Witness and Fervent Core artifact sets, the Arlecchino rerun, as well as our seven priorities for your first day in Snezhnaya.

- Level 20 and just one quest from Chapter VII is enough to join, no need to have finished all of Snezhnaya
- Objectives unlock progressively each day, so it's impossible to farm everything in one go on August 23
- Statue fragments are purely cosmetic decoration items, not progression materials
- Trade your duplicates with other Travelers via the Co-op Network to complete the collection faster
- Exploring the five regions grants 400 Primogems until November 3, so there's no rush on the map
