How to unlock the Emotional Rescue quest
You must first unlock the door to the Inside Out realm at the Castle, but to do so you must pay no less than 15,000 Dreamlight points, which are therefore a rare commodity. Once that's done, you won't see the door open, but simply see an empty memory appear...
Merlin will then ask you to infuse this memory with the emotion of joy or sadness to activate it. For joy, all you need to do is cook in some way or other. If you're looking to bring sadness to life, simply photograph a night thorn from the bottom of the valley. Once you have both elements, return to the door and offer it this enriched memory. You'll finally be able to cross the threshold into the shimmering realm of Inside Out.
Once there, you'll meet Joy, the touching blue-haired girl. She's struggling with the control console that has piously exploded, with several key parts missing. That's where your mission begins: retrieve these parts and get the console running again.
Repairing the console and solving the puzzles
To manage to repair the console, you'll need to search Headquarters for the various parts. First, you'll need to go behind the red couch to track down the "Curiosity Sliders"; from there, you'll head to the entrance to find the "Envy Button".
Next, you can go to the other side of the room, toward the shelves and documents, to pick up the "Broken Security Levers"; after that, go to the right to spot the "Curiosity Adjuster", then cross the purple tunnel to retrieve the "Broken Security Connectors". Once all these items are collected, you can finally head to the crafting table to make the "Security Sliders", which you'll calibrate on the console for the restoration. With that work done, you can finally get to work on the security system routing control puzzle that isn't working; Joy will then ask you to horizontally align the shutters.
To get through it, the first step will be to press the red button on the left, then the one on the right, before Joy sends you to the second puzzle linked to memories that are also stuck; you'll need to do the opposite of the first sequence, press the red button on the right then the left button. A cutscene will then trigger showing all the recovered memories returning to their respective places.
Joy will thank you and then ask you to go to the Long Term Memory Hub to help Sadness; she'll warn you that it's dangerous and that you'll need a helmet and protective gloves. You'll find them in a locker in Anger's space, near the purple tunnel!
Then take the elevator in the middle of the room to complete the "Emotional Rescue" quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, which will let you move straight on to the next quest, "Sound and Light!", to help Sadness find Riley's lost memories.
