In brief

The Disney Dreamlight Valley Photo Hunt event challenges you to find and photograph symbols scattered throughout the valley over 13 days (from July 15 to July 28). Complete at least five daily quests to unlock an exclusive photo frame, then keep going to gather additional patterns for the Magic Touch.

The Photo Hunt event has arrived in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Launched on July 15, it will end around July 28, giving you about 13 days to complete it. The concept is simple: track down symbols scattered around the valley and take photos of them. As a reward, you'll get patterns for the Magic Touch and a new photo frame.

How to start the event

Head to the Events tab to pick up your first quest, then set off hunting for symbols. Every day, a new quest is given by a random character: talk to them to find out where to search. You'll need to find four symbols in the specified location and photograph each pattern. It doesn't matter whether your character appears in the shot or not, as long as the symbol is clearly visible.

The characters who might give you a quest are Merlin, Alice, Buzz Lightyear, Cinderella, Mickey, Moana, and Peter Pan.

If no quest triggers, restart the game or wait for the daily reset, usually around 5 a.m. (local time).

Unlocking the main reward

To complete the Photo Hunt mission, you must finish at least five quests: doing so will earn you the photo frame. Then keep completing the remaining quests from other characters to unlock all the rewards, mostly patterns.

Example: Merlin's quest

Merlin asks you to go to the Dream Castle and photograph four symbols - in this case a bright blue seal pattern. Here's where to find them:

  • 1. on the left column, near the castle entrance;
  • 2. on the wall next to Mickey's secret room, on the right side of the ground floor;
  • 3. next to the door of the Lady and the Tramp realm;
  • 4. visible from the upper floor, above the gate leading to the DLC access dock.

Once you've taken all four photos, go back to Merlin to receive the Blue Seal pattern as a reward.

Our tips

Since quests are randomly assigned each day, locations vary from player to player: log in daily so you don't waste time over the 13 days. Handle the day's quest as soon as it appears, since only one unlocks per day. That way, the five quests needed for the photo frame wrap up without stress, leaving enough time to complete the rest for all the patterns.

Frequently asked questions

How much time do I have to finish the Photo Hunt event?
About 13 days, from its release on July 15 until July 28. Only one quest triggers per day, so log in regularly so you don't miss any.
How many quests do you need to complete to get the photo frame?
At least five quests to unlock the main photo frame. The additional quests from other characters earn patterns for the Magic Touch.
Does my character need to be in the photo for it to count?
No, the important thing is that the symbol is clearly visible and in focus in your shot. Your character can be out of frame or off-screen without any issue.
Why didn't any quest trigger today?
Restart the game or wait until the daily reset, usually around 5 a.m. (local time). Each day brings its own quest with a random character.
Are the symbol locations the same for all players?
No, since quests are assigned randomly each day, locations vary from one player to another. You need to listen to the day's character to find out your destination.

  • Log in every day without dawdling: quests are assigned randomly, so locations vary from one player to another.
  • If no quest appears, restart the game or wait for the reset around 5 a.m. (local time).
