Beast of Reincarnation: guide and tips to get started
In brief
Beast of Reincarnation rewards those who take the time to understand its systems. Unlock combos first, read the menus, and exploit the aerial and slow-motion mechanics to turn fights that seem impossible into manageable challenges.
Beast of Reincarnation pulls no punches. The game plays like a soulslike, with systems that unlock quickly and need to be understood early, or you'll be struggling for hours. Here are the reflexes to pick up from the very first hours to progress without suffering too much.
Prioritize skill combos
Your basic attacks pale in comparison to unlockable combos. As soon as you have skill points, invest them there rather than in minor passive upgrades.
Some combos are also obtained by defeating bosses. The first one, the Rangifier, gives you Sakura Storm: after four consecutive hits, a row of sakura petals appears, and you can use it to leap out of range of an enemy attack. A defensive tool as much as an offensive one, not to be overlooked.
Think about your build before spending your points
Once you've unlocked the first combos, direct your points toward what complements your playstyle. Helm Splitter, the aerial attack available early on, is clearly worth getting: Emma rises using her hair then crashes to the ground for a devastating area attack.
The benefit is twofold. You're in the air, so out of range of certain boss attacks, and the damage dealt directly contributes to the stun gauge. In a game where combat rewards patience, this is the kind of skill that really changes things.

Actually read the menus
The built-in tutorials are more detailed than in most RPGs. Indicators also warn you when it's worth going back to the cleanse walker, whether for story scenes not to be missed or available equipment upgrades. Ignoring the menus means playing blind.
Make use of Koo's instincts
Koo isn't just a combat companion. He spots nearby enemies, valuable items, and chests. By leveling him up, he becomes able to retrieve them himself. Pay attention to what Emma says or to the notifications that appear, they often signal his useful presence.
Heal in mid-air, it works!
Using Emma's hair to gain height or distance and heal during that respite is a full-fledged tactic, not just a backup option. Those few seconds gained can literally decide whether you survive the fight or start all over again.
Make the most of slow motion
Certain actions trigger a slow-motion effect: commanding Koo, firing the bow mid-jump, activating Emma's abilities. Shooting in the air benefits particularly well from this, since it lets you place several arrows instead of just one. Systematically gain height before shooting.
A small detail that matters: holding down the crossbow attack turns it into a machine-gun-style rapid fire. Useful for chaining damage without breaking the rhythm.

Koo and stun, a complicated relationship
Counter-intuitive but true: Koo's attacks become less effective when the enemy is already stunned. Wait for him to recover before launching another offensive with him. Many of his attacks apply status effects that raise the stun gauge faster for the next round, so timing matters.
Chain Koo's multi-hit attacks
Multi-hit attacks that give +1 Bloom per hit are practically free attacks. Each hit that lands generates a Bloom, letting you launch another attack almost immediately. The only requirement: vary the initial attack from the previous one.
Emma's hair, a movement tool in its own right
Remember that the hair extension isn't limited to a straight line. By swinging it around a corner during a wall climb, you create an improvised platform in midair. Handy for quickly gaining height or finding items otherwise inaccessible.

Another thing: keep an eye out for visual clues in the environment. Arrows carved into a wall, a sign, or the ground sometimes point in the right direction when a path seems confusing. Easy to miss if you're rushing.
Pet Koo, seriously
It's not just cosmetic. Petting Koo regularly improves your bond with him, which unlocks possibilities later in the game. No reason to hold back, do it every chance you get.
If, despite all this, the difficulty remains too high for your comfort, know that it's possible to adjust the difficulty level mid-game, even after progressing well into the story. But that's another story, to be found in our dedicated guide.
