Resident Evil Requiem - Free content arriving in May 2026: Photo mode and mystery mini-game
In brief
Capcom announces two major free updates for Resident Evil Requiem in May 2026: a long-awaited photo mode and a mysterious mini-game whose nature has yet to be revealed. This free content is part of an ambitious post-launch strategy, complemented by a paid narrative DLC currently in development.
Capcom continues to follow its ambitious post-launch strategy for Resident Evil Requiem, with two major free updates scheduled for May 2026. Announced by director Koshi Nakanishi, a photo mode highly anticipated by players will finally be available to immortalize the most striking horrific moments of the descent into the abyss in Requiem.
At the same time, Capcom is reserving a surprise in the form of a mini-game whose nature remains mysterious, and which is already fueling theories; some, for example, imagine a Mercenaries mode with narration, others solo adventures with secondary characters like Alyssa, or the entrance of Leon. This "free content + paid content" approach continues the pattern of the successes of Resident Evil Village or RE4 Remake.
These updates will also be accompanied by performance fixes and balancing adjustments to optimize the experience on PS5 Pro, Xbox Series and PC. At the same time, a paid narrative DLC currently in development, which for now goes by the name "Story Expansion", promises to plunge us even further into the world of Requiem.
