Mario Kart World: Update 1.7.0 is here, what's in it?
In brief
The Mario Kart World 1.7.0 update rolled out on June 30, 2026 on Switch 2 and enriches the Knockout Tour with two new circuits: Drill Rally (Wario Shipyard → Bowser's Castle) and Boomerang Rally (Salty Salty Speedway → Whistlestop Summit). Photo Mode also gains a new feature allowing you to add stickers to your shots.
Rolled out on June 30, 2026, version 1.7.0 of Mario Kart World on Switch 2 is centered on the game's flagship mode: the Knockout Tour. Two new tracks are added to the catalog, and Nintendo confirms that new circuits are already planned.
Two new circuits, and two atmospheres
Drill Rally links Wario Shipyard to Bowser's Castle, a track with a more aggressive atmosphere, between industrial scenery and a castle with threatening surroundings. Boomerang Rally for its part connects Salty Salty Speedway to Whistlestop Summit, more varied between a very coastal circuit and a snowy summit. These two new circuits are only accessible to drivers who have already completed at least one rally, they remain closed to newcomers.
In fact, for the competitive player, the stakes are real: the Knockout Tour eliminates the worst-ranked drivers at each of the five checkpoints among 24 drivers. Each new circuit is an opportunity to learn new combos and rethink risk management across the whole circuit.
Photo Mode: stickers on the agenda
The other addition in the patch concerns Photo Mode, which can now include stickers chosen from your collection, and combine them with frame types of your choice as inserts. Support for touch controls and the Joy-Con 2 in pointer mode makes staging more precise. A secondary addition no doubt, but one that adds a bit more to an already quite complete tool.
Reception
On Reddit and other networks, the community rather appreciates the circuit, and shows a lot of interest in Drill Rally, whose Wario Shipyard → Bowser's Castle track is a source of curiosity. No notable controversy is to be noted at launch. Nintendo's regular follow-up on the title - custom items, mode balancing, new circuits - keeps interest alive without much fuss.
