The second season of Marathon, NIGHTFALL, is first and foremost a true fresh start for Bungie's extraction shooter, with its release set for June 2 alongside a week of free access for all players. This update focuses on a major progression reset and an overall rebalancing aimed at stabilizing the experience ahead of the arrival of ranked play and the implementation of a more structured endgame.
Basically, Season 2 first brings new weapons with the KKV-9SD SMG firing at 1200 rounds/min and the D54 Battle Pistol for melee combat, but also unique weapons to be recovered during major events on Perimeter or Dire Marsh, with new attributes and perks to optimize builds.
On the systems side, we get new seasonal progression, the much-desired return of duos, but also a huge amount of work on the interface with better loot display, clearer UI messages, as well as a greater distinction between players and NPC enemies. Bungie also took the opportunity to fix numerous map bugs, spawn issues such as Rook's in containers, and various disconnections and crashes.
