In brief

Bungie is extending Vault Breaker mode until August 18 with this 1.1.5.2 update, all in an effort to gather as much feedback as possible before the full version launches in September. Also on the docket: a solid buff for the Volt Thrower, weapon adjustments, and some much-needed bug fixes.

Bungie is releasing update 1.1.5.2 for Marathon, and the part that will please players is the extension of the PvE mode Vault Breaker until August 18th. The stock of certain limited offers has been increased as a result. Makes sense: Bungie wants to gather as much feedback as possible before launching the full version of the PvE mode in September.

On the weapons side, the V22 Volt Thrower gets a real boost, with damage going from 12.6 to 14.4. Be careful though, tracking speed now progressively declines over the projectile's 1.2 second lifespan, down to -30%. A buff, but not a free one. The KKV-9SD also sees its base magazine go from 23 to 28 rounds, with a retuning of all associated magazine sizes. The V85 Circuit Breaker gets back its Prestige Overlocked Delimiter mod, which had been disabled due to a stability issue.

On the bug front, two notable fixes: the exploit that allowed farming reputation and season XP by repeatedly opening the Cryo Hatch has been patched, and all Cryo Archive actions that had their rewards disabled have been re-enabled. A bug preventing players from receiving Salvage or Schemas when purchasing via LUX has also been fixed.

The patch notes remain in line with previous adjustments. The real stakes are still the final version of Vault Breaker in September, on which Bungie is clearly continuing to gather feedback before locking down the mode.

Frequently asked questions

Until when is Vault Breaker mode available?
Vault Breaker has been extended until August 18. Bungie wants to keep collecting feedback before launching the full version of the PvE mode in September.
Is the Volt Thrower buff worth it?
Yes, but with trade-offs. Damage goes from 12.6 to 14.4, but tracking progressively declines, losing 30% of its speed after 1.2 seconds. It's a trade of skill for raw power.
What's changing for the KKV-9SD?
The base magazine increases from 23 to 28 rounds, and Bungie has retuned all associated magazine sizes to maintain balance.
What exactly was the Cryo Hatch exploit?
It was a loophole that allowed players to farm reputation and season XP by repeatedly opening the Cryo Hatch. It's now sealed, and the action only grants its intended rewards once per match.
