In brief

Exodus resurfaces with a compelling gameplay demonstration showcasing an ambitious action-RPG that pushes the genre's boundaries with harder science fiction and lasting consequences. Archetype Entertainment's game leans on planetary exploration, moral choices, and time dilation to portray June Aslan, a Traveler in search of relics to save Leiden from the Rot.

Exodus has resurfaced with a gameplay demonstration lasting around 20 minutes that above all confirmed one thing: Archetype Entertainment isn't here to simply toy with reusing a formula, but to go much further, embracing a harder, vaster science fiction with heavier consequences. Announced as a solo action-RPG centered on planetary exploration, moral choices and the effects of time dilation, the game invites us to take on the role of June Aslan, a Traveler sent into the Centauri Cluster in search of alien relics capable of saving Leiden, a planet on the brink of extinction caused by the Rot.

This new sequence particularly highlights the diversity of situations. We see here a bit of exploration across hostile worlds, derelict environments with a strong atmosphere, transports that seem to rely on evolving technologies, but also more methodical confrontations, underscoring the often-stated intent to combine arsenal, gadgets, and tactics. One of the standout features remains the gauntlet inherited from the protagonist's father, a key artifact that gets enhanced throughout the adventure and allows new forms of combat to be unlocked and used all the way through the playthrough.

From a visual standpoint, Exodus impresses with its rendering under Unreal Engine 5, with an art direction capable of making vertiginous architectures, industrial ruins, and aging alien biomes coexist. The game also plays on relationships with companions, the choices that shape decisions made, and the long-term reach of their consequences. If the promise holds up over time, Exodus could well be one of the most closely watched sci-fi RPGs of 2027!
