Odd Bug Studio put Blood and Brine online on Friday, August 21, 2026, a free expansion for everyone who owns Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter. Eleven quests, ten bosses and a brand-new fishing mechanic: at that size, free post-launch content has become an exception.

Heading for Hardshell Brook

The expansion leaves the frozen expanses of the North for Hardshell Brook, a coastal village. On the programme: 11 quests, 10 boss fights, 9 armour sets, a new fishing mechanic, 32 aquatic creatures, arena fights aboard a ship and new music.

The story hangs on two shipwrecked sailors, Jaimie and Sam, who want to fill an aquarium with rare species to pay for the repair of their boat. Arlo is the one holding the rod. The studio adds armour inspired by Blasphemous, Cult of the Lamb, DAVE THE DIVER, Death’s Door, Moonlighter and Beyond Galaxyland, redrawn by hand, without saying whether they count among the nine sets.

One point to know: the expansion only opens up once you have finished the main campaign. Buying the game now gives no immediate access to Hardshell Brook.

A gift that lands during a sale

Released on January 28, 2025, the game shows a 77 on Metacritic PC and 1,602 positive reviews out of 2,015, a “Mostly Positive” rating. It is €9.99 instead of €24.99, a 60% discount, with no end date displayed.
