In brief

ENDLESS Legend II is leaving Early Access on September 17 with three major new factions headlining the update: the Sandshapers, an antediluvian civilization determined to terraform the planet into a desert, plus two variants called Rogue Factions (the Order of Zelevas and the Severed Claw), not to mention the Mangrove of Harmony developed with the community. The game is also arriving on PS5 and Xbox Series at the same time.

ENDLESS Legend II will leave Early Access on September 17 with a noticeably expanded faction line-up. Hooded Horse and Amplitude Studios are taking the opportunity to lay the groundwork for consoles, with PS5 and Xbox Series versions announced at the same time (full details in our dedicated article on the release date).

The big news is the arrival of the Sandshapers as the sixth major faction. The oldest civilization of Saiadha, it knew the planet before it was drowned beneath the oceans, and its quest is literally to terraform it back into a desert world. As with every major faction in the game, it comes with its own quest, units, heroes, technologies and traits, all available in the Custom Faction creator.

Alongside this, Amplitude is introducing the concept of Rogue Factions: splinter groups from existing factions, each with their own story and gameplay. The first two are the Order of Zelevas, a variant of the Kin of Sheredyn geared toward pure conquest, and The Severed Claw, an offshoot of the Necrophage that can only offset its losses by enslaving other factions. A clever way to create fresh content without starting from scratch.

Finally, the Mangrove of Harmony arrives as a minor faction shaped like a starfish, designed together with the Amplitude community. It brings its own quest, villages, recruitable units, a new population and two hero skills.

On paper, this confirms an approach built on small touches rather than big episodic DLCs. For a 4X that thrives on replayability, adding variants of existing factions rather than always going for 100% brand-new factions is a rather smart move for long-term content.

Frequently asked questions

What makes the Sandshapers so particular?
They are the oldest civilization on Saiadha. They knew the planet before the oceans submerged it, and their sacred quest is to terraform it back into a desert state. They arrive with all the classic tools: units, heroes, technologies, and custom traits.
What exactly is a Rogue Faction?
A splinter of an existing faction with its own story and gameplay, but sharing roots with the original. The Order of Zelevas is a version of the Kin of Sheredyn focused on pure conquest, while the Severed Claw forces the Necrophages to enslave other factions to make up for their losses.
Can I customize the new factions?
Yes, absolutely. The Sandshapers and all the elements of the Rogue Factions are available in the Custom Faction creator, allowing you to mix and match as you see fit.
What is this Mangrove of Harmony?
A starfish-shaped minor faction, designed in collaboration with the Amplitude community. It brings its own quest, villages, recruitable units, a new population, and two hero skills.
